Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

Thje interior is crap in those (just my opinion). They need to offer the interior in black, not just gray. Exterior is nice. Would I buy one...hmmm...probably not. I do like the Rover Sport but that's a few $ more.

Rich, if I can convince the wife that I need a different car for no reason other than I have car disease, I maybe interested in another SRT. Where are you located? Which dealer?

and youll get a lot more looks and compliments with a sy/ty then you will w/ one of those. Last night I had 5 or 6 people flipping out that they got to see a "real Typhoon in person" :rotf:

X2! My Ty is far better known and complemented than my TBSS! And on top of that, the Ty smoked my SS at a stop light! It's great to hear people are still digging the trucks J Bone!

I read their website and I think their stock ECM, has some type of cutback on brake torquing. They claim the best times are just hammering the gas and going and slow down if you brake torque them off the line :squint:

I can vouch for that claim...I pulled a 1.79 60 ft. If you torque brake the truck seems to miss the sweet spot (out of the power band so to speak).

There is one thing to be proud of and that is we are running those numbers with a 4.3L V6 and they have to use a 6.1L V8 to go just a little faster with 14 yr old knowledge i think we still got rockets. GMC should of just made better braking system on our trucks but i think CBR and SSBC have done enough to help us.

Could we say maybe more reliable than our trucks but mine is awesome with standalone way better than when i had the ultimate chip in it. Even better gas mileage for an 11 sec truck. I get like 18-20 mile to the gallon on 93 pump gas and go 11's see if they can beat that now.

Last week drove to the track 45mins each way, sat in line to get in 24 mins, sat in tech for an hour, drove into stagin lanes pulled our lane so maybe another 15mins here, make 3 runs down the track and then drove home and only used 1/4 tank of fuel.

but in their defense, look at the weight difference. they're right at 5000lbs, and a Ty weighs what? 3000? 3200?

i believe in giving credit where credit is due. the Jeep SRT-8 is actually pretty awesome all things considered. they'll spank a turbo Cayenne, S/C Land Rover, TBSS, SRT10 truck, and ALOT of sports cars.....all off the showroom floor. being a TBSS owner i think that they're a better all around deal. they're the cheapest of the sport SUV bunch, but the slowest out of the bunch in stock form also. but the LS2 is a GREAT platform to build on....much like a turbo 4.3 in that aspect. and for about $1200 you can take a SS firmly into the mid 12s.

but i've used the same argument you have: when i see a SRT8 owner getting cocky i'll remind them that they're running roughly the same time that the Sy/Ty's were all those years ago. most don't have much of an argument for that :p

I'm fairly young, so I work at a car wash/detail called Waterway. I pulled one off the line yesterday to the drying spot and I thought, "This is one of those SRT-8's eh... I'll test the throttle." I eased down slightly and the rear started to fish so I let off right away and coasted to the spot. My manager started taking phone pictures while it was parked, and everyone was checking it out.

YOU(and others like you) are the reason why I do not take any of my vehicles to the car wash!!

The sticker on a new SRT GC puts it into the price range of alot of other vehicles that I would rather own. Looks wise, I think the TBSS is better looking than the GC and I would much rather have the LS2. The TBSS tranny sucks and was a deciding factor for me when I was considering one a few months ago.
