I think im gona be part of this. My front end guy told me my steering shaft has alot of play in it and asked me to start searching for a new intermediate shaft. Cant find the shaft. But i bet this is the fix i need.

Re: Steering Bearing Upgrade/Replacement Round #2

baFoon, the intermediate shaft is the one that Tim(fivetodrive) has for sale. It will replace the crappy rag joint that may have some slop that you are experiencing. The rest of the play could be from the stock bearing being worn.

Graham, There could be many causes for the wheel to rotate back and forth a little and the wheels not move. Worn idler arm, pitman arm, tierods, rag joint, steering bearing, steering box itself. So I would ask that you check out these other parts first if they have not been done in the near past that way you fix the correct thing and not just start throwing parts at it.

Re: Steering Bearing Upgrade/Replacement Round #2

Graham are you saying you can move the steering wheel itself in every direction about 1/8" or so? If that is the case it sound like the tilt part of the column has come loose like it did on my truck and needs to get tightened down. My truck I could move the wheel all around in about an extra 2" radius very scary.

Bafoon, get a shaft from Tim and get this bearing and then you will know for sure if it is the shaft part or a steering part that is still "loose"

Re: Steering Bearing Upgrade/Replacement Round #2

Is this the same thing listed here on ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Part...adiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150246378632&

I'm interested in the GB, but not 100% sure if I can commit. Basicly I have the cash but is there anything out there better, or is this as good as it gets? I want top notch parts on my Syclone. Do it right the first time so to speak. Since I'm new to the Sy Ty world, please don't take offense to this. I have a lot to learn. Thanks.

Re: Steering Bearing Upgrade/Replacement Round #2

The ebay link is for the actual steering shaft. This listing is for the bearing that is in the end of the steering column. If you follow the hyperlink in the first post you can see a picture if this bearing.

This bearing is a stock replacement and is the only thing that can replace your stock one.

Anyone else? I will prolly close this tomorrow unless there is more interest. After this GP I can still order these but it will be 1 by 1 and price will be slightly higher
