Steering Damper

Do all ST 10 Chevrolet Blazers have the steering damper bracket on the frame, or only if the vehicle is equipped with the ZM6 Off Road Package.?

The bracket in question would be welded or bolted to the frame on the driver's side. The AC Delco 509-811 stabilizer shock attaches to the bracket on one end and the 5th hole in a GM 26038980 center link on the other. The center link used with the ZM6 Off Road Package is available from GM and has a 5th hole for the steering damper but there is no reference to the frame bracket.

I realize Rancho has a bolt on steering damper kit with the frame bracket and U-bolts included but I am not interested in that kit.

Thanks in advance.

There are brackets on the frame of both of both Typhoons and Syclones. I cannot confirm for an St 10 Chevy Blazer. I can confirm the part # for the Center Link is GM Part #26038980 as you stated. I have this set up (added parts) on my Syclone. I changed the center link because I didn't like the cheesy setup from Rancho with the "U" bolts. You will need the shock with a taper end on it to go into the hole on center link the other end just bolts to the frame as if it were the way GM would have done it.

Re: Steering Damper

I have the GM 26038960 relay. and the AC Delco 509-811 damper shock which came with the tapered bolt and nut. . I have not looked on my 1991 T10 Blazer for the frame bracket. I looked imy 1991-1994 Chevrolet ST10 Illustrated Parts Catalog and the bracket is not serviced as a separate part. . That leads me to believe the bracket is part of the frame., If the bracket is not part of the frame, I suppose I must buy a Rancho damper mounting kit just to get the bracket.
The location of the bracket can be determined by turning the wheels left to lock and then position the frame bracket where it mounts the shock extended one inch from solid. I saw a photo of a 1994 S10 Blazer with the frame bracket welded to the frame. The owner said it was OE..

Re: Steering Damper

My 97 4x4 s-10 (not a ZR2) without a steering damper has the frame bracket. Pretty should every 4x4 frame has it.
