Stepside bed?

I'm wondering if anyone has done a stepside Sy. I have seen the regular first generation s10 with the late 90's stepside. Aren't those beds fiberglass? If anyone asks why, I say just for the heck of it.

I've seen what your talking about and it look pretty cool but I think the only way it'll look right on a syclone would to take an s10 xtreme stepside bed and put it on

Re: Stepside bed?

sy's are too square in my opinion to toss a step side bed on.. think it would look horrible but then again im not a fan of the step side look though

Re: Stepside bed?

They are heavy has hell, for some reason they weigh more than a regular fleetside bed. My brother has two dimes with sportsides, we've pulled the beds several times over the years (fuel pumps). They have to weigh a 100lbs or more than a comparable fleetside does.

The sides are metal and the lower portions plastic, there is a lot more bracing and such in them though, most likely leading to the increased weight.

I have a set of the fenders that look like that in my basement just have to come up with steps in front of and in back of the fenders as well as narrow the bed. If you are anywhere near the NE area and wana take over that abandoned project LMK.

Would have to strip all the cladding off. Sy stuff won't fit on stepside bed.

There was this truck a long time back called the Wild Side S10

http://www.s10wildside.com/wildside/default.htm

I remember stumbling onto this website years ago, and thinking this was a pretty cool build. In fact, it was one of the many influences that lead to the feasibility of an AWD swap in my truck. I think the owner is actually a member/vendor on here too.

EFI Connection (vendor on the board) has a link to this truck, as well pics of it on their website.

So you might want to ask them about it.

Also, I don't know if it's legit or not as I haven't called them, but it looks like you can still buy the wildside bed.

Every once in a while you find a wildside bed for sale on craigslist. I remember when I was building my s10 about 6 years ago, a guy local had one for sale for 500$

Re: Stepside bed?

the wild side is by far my favorite. minus the non functional tailgate, and vette lights. however, it is not the only stepside conversion option. i the late 80s rockwood conversions did a fiberglass bed (still heavy as ****)

While I'm not crazy about the bed, I'm very curious to know more about this bumper. I've never seen this before, and I really like it.

Re: Stepside bed?

Looks awright but wouldn't want the extra weight. It was just a thought. I've seen the ugly square bed which looks like the Luv stepside bed. Not a fan for sure.
