stock +12v power wire for head unit, what color is it?

First I'd like to say that this is my first actual related sytysgt post in a loooooonnnnnnnggggggg time (yay for me).

As the topic states, what color is the +12v wire to the head unit (stereo). When I had my stereo installed (5yrs ago) the store did not use adapter (for the +12v only) that supposed to match up with the stock plug. Instead they just tapped the cigarette wire and I'm tired of having to change the fuse for my dimmer light/horn when it pops. So now I would like to correct this.

There should be 2 orange, a red and a yellow IIRC. The two orange are 12+ lighting and Dimmer, the red is ignition 12+ and the yellow is constant 12+. Again, IIRC

Edit: I lied. the red 12+ ignition is orange, to the outside of the plug right next to the yellow. The 12+ lighting wire is brown. I do think the dimmer is orange though.

Whatever you get from my rambling, your power wire is on the outside edge of the plug directly above the yellow wire. Or should be.

Well I found it (at the plug) but power no longer makes it that far. When I had my head unit installed they must have snapped/broke the wire somewhere under the dash. I know it used to work because I had my factory radio when I bought the truck.

Have fun trying to trace that wire :lol: .... I am pretty sure the radio is on its own circuit, I would check down by the fuse block. Aside from that, the lighter wiring is just as heavy so up the fuse size and stick with that :2cents:
