Stripping off old "back to black"

I think the former owner used back to black on my cladding. It's unpainted so I know why he did it, but now it's starting to show up a little tacky and weird.

Want to strip this crap off, is dishwashing soap like Dawn going to work? Or is there something better?

I'd start with dishwashing soap first. You don't want to start with anything harsh and jack up your cladding.

You can also try rubbing alcohol. But I would spot test it first

I've noticed this issue with my truck. The previous owner used it frequently and when they left the truck outside for good, it got wet and started to run and now my cladding is all faded and streaky. I tried to apply more back to black and can see that it looks bad and am in the same boat as you as far as getting it off. Have you attempted anything other then a good hand wash yet? I was thinking about firing up the ol power washer and giving it a good scrubbing, then resorting to other methods

I use back to black on my original unpainted cladding, and I find the stuff works great, but it takes some time to learn how to apply it. I use an electric buffer and take my time, and to me it looks as if it should have when the trucks were new. Now it will do funny things at first with rain and washing, it will run off and have to be re-applied, but as you do it more and more, the running and fading will be less. I would get some more back to black and get that cladding back up to snuff. If you really want it gone, just wash it a lot, it will wear away and you will get back to the original faded cladding.
