Stupid question but how can I tell if my ............

chip is working right? I have the 10-1 chip but there seems to be little difference between stock and T-116 or T-117. The kill mode does turn the truck off and the valet mode does retard power. I suppose I was expecting more. The GIAC chip in my S4 totally made the thing into an animal.

What's up here?

If the Security and Valet settings are working, then the rest of the settings are as well. As far as difference in performance, well..........the Ultimate provides the foundation (chip-wise) for huge performance gains. It won't give you a whole bunch of power increase by itself, but when used with other proven mods, it will allow for the power potential of your build to be utilized.

Also, keep in mind that while other cars can have gobs of boost and timing safely added to the tune, our trucks don't adhere to that guideline. There are other things that must be done first to allow the Ultimate to work to it's fullest. And while it may work for your Audi......cranking the boost and/or timing on our trucks simply won't do the trick (for long).

Is this one of the newer Ultimate programs? The really old chips were called 10-1 but there have been many versions since then

If you think the Ultimate is a "plug and play" type chip you are mistaken. It allows you some options without the hassle of burning your own chips

The difference in T116 and T117 is 1 psi in a perfect world on the the truck used for that calibration. Ignition timing is near stock. Results vary because of differences between trucks due to mods, wastegate settings etc.

The butt dyno won't feel that much difference between T116 T117 and it could be slower if your truck starts detonating on the higher boost. Do you know how much boost you are actually getting on those programs?
Many trucks barely run well at stock boost levels on pump gas. Higher boost will only lead to more problems.

The Ultimate is a good chip in the hands of someone who has a basic understanding of engine operation and knows how to use a datalogger. But it does require some work to get any large gains. IMO running straight pump gas limits you to about 15-16 psi in a stock truck that doesn't have issues. Better gas or alky/water injection can allow you to run much more boost and therefore see real gains you can feel with the butt dyno.

Just my .02 but this comes up periodically and some people bash the Ultimate because it's not like adding a 100 HP shot of nitrous to a NA car.
But it can allow a novice with a datalogger and patience to make power.

The difference between T116 and T117 is 1# of boost.

For fun - if your truck is running right - try a T3 program :)

Vince, like what's already been said. Include some of the safety mods, get yourself either datamaster or diacom and when everything looks and running good crank up the boost/timing. My stock typhoon went from 14.1 to 13.0 with just the ultimate and a few little mods. That chip is awesome. I also have it in my syclone.
