What ever it takes!!
So I decided to take the ty out for some DM runs after having some time to figure out Data-Masta.
As I was leaving the house I was trying to hook up the lap top to the ty & drive at the same time. I decided to pull over & hook everything up.
As I was sitting there loading the files I was distracted by the sound of a loud V8 chevy truck going by. The truck looked to be 99-01 sierra all blacked out with air bags & 22's. He obviously saw me sitting there watching the traffic go by. He was doing the classic "ricer fly by".
Then I remembered hearing from one of the Austin sy guys about this truck & how I should put him in his place. So I went ahead & took the bait & gave chase. I was a little worried about running the ty because of a false knock issue I've been chasing.(self-aligning 1.6 rockers).
I finally caught up to him on a straight away as he rolled down the window to talk while we were rolling about 45 mph. I already had the dump pipe opened.The conversation went something like this:
Him: Turbo?
me: yeah, you too?
Him: supercharged.
me: sounds good
(it really did).
You wanna roll?( in moderate traffic).
Him: yeah.
Me
kay...go ahead.( I usually let the other guy go 1st).
I had the ultimate chip (vortec&412 cam program) set on T1-F2 with the alky spraying 67 turbo.
We took off and we were did on from 45 till about 60 he started to walk on me as we caught up to traffic. I glanced down at the DM and I could see 8* of knock retard & 28 psi od boost.
Holy shit! I got out of it.
Rolled up to him again ( after getting walked).
Him: I have a 6.0 lq4
Me: Really? Nice...I just spikded 28 psi & was pulling timing.
Him: I dynoed 455rwhp.
Me: Cool, I have a sy at home that dynoed 489 rwhp.
You must be running 11's?
Him: yeah low 11's
Me: roll again?
Him: yeah.
At this point I shut the exhaust dump to bring the boost down to 24psi & changed the chip setting to T2-F3.
We were sitting at a light with a few cars in front of me...we waited for them to drive away a little. Again I let him go 1st...this time I yanked him 2 car lenghts...Suddenly the truck started to starve for fuel. My gas tank only had a 1/4 of a tank. I had to cut hin off to avoid hitting the rapidly approaching traffic.
Me: I don't have enough fuel in the tank!
Him: (surprised face) That's okay I'm on empty too. ( yeah right).:roll:
FInally ran up to a red light with no one ahead of us. Once again the light turned green & I gave him the jump .I couldnt believe he was actually grabbing traction. He had air bags.
The ty chased him down again up to about 80 & it started retarding again.
Him: (on the cell phone now)
Me: You know its only a V6 right?
Him: Really? Runs good!
Me: Yeah...Good race man...see yah later.:tup:
