Nice!

Always good to hear of results when keeping things simple and doing it in small steps. This is E week! ;)

So you decided to remove the 10 year old shocks and put on new.

YEA, Nice!!!!!!!!

Did you rotate the air in the tires also???

Sorry, work is busy, trying to relax a bit and just give E a hard time.

I don't think he has the proper air-recapture equipment for that.....although I am sure it would net good results.

I've wondered how this would work for quite some time, glad to see someone else with some extra cash got it done.

we have been running random experiments on this for about 4 days now....... one of which is where we put chubby girls in the back seat, and jump the truck thru various intersections and see if we can get it to bottom out, or break something....... so far so good.

the ride is good, and it handles considerably better.

Are you using Jeff’s suspension in the front?

It looks like you are running a sway bar (third pic down - looks like an end link). What bar is this? ATR?

Is this on the Sy or the Ty? Belltech leaf springs?

How much are da shocks?

What leaf springs do you have on it? Stock? If so, what's your ride height in the rear (ground to underside of cladding arch) with the coilovers+ leafs? Thanks.

one side has a stock leaf, with the overload removed.

the other side has a ST lowering leaf in it. (i broke a stock spring a couple months ago, adn have been slack about replacing it. just so happens the ST spring is the exact same ride height as my stock ty spring. i think they have de-arched over time or something)

the ride height is set up stock right now....... gonna do some lowered testing soon. i have about 3" from the top of the tire to the cladding. gonna try it an inch lower after i try a couple more settings on the shocks with it like it is.

the spring im testing is a 100/200 progressive rate spring. thats a REALLY light wieght spring, so it kinda acts as a helper to the leaf once you get some compression.

once you take off the overload springs, and then add back the coil springs theres only about 8lbs thats saved over a comparible aluminum shock, but i figure every little bit helps.

the swaybar is an ATR.

the truck this is on is my typhoon (daily driver/beater) the typhoons have always rode rougher and not handled as good as a sy...... im hoping to be able to correct that some.

the shocks are the same price as the ones for the JS front suspension on the website. the QA1 springs im using in the rear are super cheap. cheaper than the hypercos.

the only hang up i have seen so far is the ATR exhaust is so big that it wants to rub the spring. i have the tailpipe section out of it right now testing..... not sure what im gonna do long term just yet.

ok, after installing some lowering blocks i did a lot more testing........

i put a hair more preload on the coilsprings, and settled on setting #3 or 4 on the shock adjustment. so far, even with it lowered it doesnt bottom out at all. i went thru a neighborhood and hit all the "speed humps" at ~30mph, and still couldnt get any complaints from the truck. for those of you that dont know, a speed hump and a speed bump are 2 totally different things. yuppies in ritzy neighborhoods have speed humps. food lion grocery stores have speedbumps. anyway......the good news is with a little drop in suspension, a much more progressive rate spring, and a swaybar, this truck can ride and handle like a sportscar. its not quite as soft as it was at full height, since i used more spring preload, but it is very comfortable, and what i gained in handlin is incredible. the steering is a LOT more responsive now, and the cornering is very impressive for a fat bottomed whale of a truck. so far, the only disadvantage i see in using these is that the ATR exhaust tailpipe doesnt clear the passengerside coilover. i think at this point im just gonna leave the ATR tail section off and install a turndown on the back of the muffler. mabe ill do a side exit later or something.......it just rides way too good to take these coilovers back off.

any comments on the way that it affects the launch? have you tried any of that yet?

well it doesnt squat much at all.... just kinda takes off. the ass doesnt go way up in the air when you brake hard. its just a flatter sportier ride. im still really excited about the improved steering..... you just kinda point it, and it goes there. since i installed the ZR1's the truck was kinda wandering around on uneven pavement, and now its easier to control. much more responsive to small movements in the steering wheel.

This sounds great. I am going to have to purchase this, because I am sick of the Ty bottoming out all the time. Thanks for the effort and I will be purchasing from you (although it may wait until the spring since it is so late in the year)
