Re: Sy #260 Homecoming

before you begin modding, make sure she is running good in stock form.. then start modding.

Re: Sy #260 Homecoming

nice clean truck, but if you think it's slow, you must do a Tune up first before doing anything, i have a stock Syclone, and that thing will make you shit in your pants..

Re: Sy #260 Homecoming

What should I look into for a tune up? I'm changing the oil this weekend, it has newer wires and plugs. I'm getting a random check engine light, but my laptop hasnt came in yet to datalog. It just doesnt seem fast as it should be, but I do own a sportbike and a drag quad, so a lot of things seem slow. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sweet looking truck.

Like everyone said, get it running right stock before you do anything.

I would bet that it has the wrong plugs in it right now, which would SEVERLY hamper it's performance.

If it was mine,I would replace the dist cap, rotor button, plugs and plug wires.Check to make sure that the timing is set at 0 with the tan wire disconnected.Make sure the IC pump is working.Adjust the TV cable to make sure it's right.Check for vacuum leaks.

You can find out what code the CEL is throwing with a paperclip. Search.

Re: Sy #260 Homecoming

I say try to learn some from previous owners. I found out only one of the 3 owners of mine knew how to work on it, maintain it, and drive it. Have you done a boost launch yet? If not, you're really missing out on one of the funnest driving activities in these trucks!

0-30 it should feel faster then anything you have driven on the street. If not then somethings wrong. Do the paper clip test to check for codes. Very clean SY. Nice to see stock ones still around. Just be happy it runs.LOL Good luck and welcome. Once you start the mods, they never stop.

The only things its had done were at the stealership and its mainly oil changes and allignments. Owned by a bunch of old men. I'm no stranger to 4wd boost launches as the F250 goes drag racing from time to time, but it leaves the line at about 20 psi but is 3 times heavier than the Sy. A buddy at a dealership plugged in the tech 2 and it was throwing an o2 code, so I'm fighting a sensor now. I was reading on the SportMachines page and it said plugs were AC CR42TS but I was also seeing the NGK UR5's being used. I've always had good luck with NGK's in my dirt toys, which is better?
