I like the colour combo - looks cool!

How much was the TB?

What prep did you do for the block/ head paint?

Good work.

Sweet build! Nice find on the 58mm TB. Is it a bolt on or do you have to modify the throttle linkage?

The linkage attached to the T-Body is a 2 piece, the outer bracket was the only modding needed. What I had to do for the bracket linkage was to grind out the two fixed rivet cable attachments, drill out the holes to the needed size for the SyTy bracket bolts that hold the cruise and kick down cable portion. This is the only modifications I had to do for the upgrade

My build is going so fast only because it was mostly done before I started my posts. Everything was bought in advance before any work was started. I built a second motor before I even turned a wrench on the truck.

The T-Body was a Summit brand at a cost of $270 Summit twin 58mm T-body part # SUM-227706
Prep work to block and heads for paint was an acid bath then a rub down to remove any dried chemical cleaner a final dust off, the painting was done on a nice low humidity hot sunny summer day.

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

ok now its time to start with the oil lines and cooling. I am running the stock lines from the engine to the oil filter re-location bracket. From here I have completely reworked the cooling lines and cooler
B&M Oil Cooler part # 70266
All hoses and fittings are -8 size lines, and the inlet to the plate style cooler (last pic) is 1/2" NPT

to pass through the core support wall I used Summit's bulk head fittings also -8

though it may look it, the top line is not under a bind, its the angle I took the picture combined with the bends in the hose

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

since she has been sitting for more than 3 yrs out of commission a small problem has developed. Just a little rust, just enough to make little holes everywhere

My solution was found at Advance Auto for $129.00

also, yes since the pump was in the gas laquer mixture I replaced the old Walbro 255 pump with the new Walbro 255 from Summit VPN-F20000169F

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

at the shop getting the Down Pipe and waste gate plumbing done, the mock up. the DP exits at 2-1/2" and immediately expands to 3" running all the way out and the waste gate pipe is 1-5/8"

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

Well I got everything together and having assembled the motor over 6 months ago she started up really rough (timing) but also has a loud muffled knock from the under side of engine so I guess i get to pull the engine out and investigate this new problem. Yes I did use assembly lube but I think it just sat to long after I put her together with out being used, despite my best efforts to keep her dry I only had a carport to store her in. I have since moved and now have a garage to do this next maintenance task. I am no professional but I hear it happens to them too. :banghead:

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

I feel your pain - I am worried about my engine sitting for the next few months as well.

Hope you figure it out. Great work so far!

Did you clearance the pan (bang with a hammer) to clear the rods? The Eagle rods will hit the pan in 1 or 2 spots.

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

From what we could see by lowering the pan it looked as though the crank was striking the webbing in the block. Like the thrust bearing was damaged or bad. Motor has to come out no matter what so you have some work to do Drew.

Re: Sy #2811 engine and brakes

Damn.

I have a similar issue with my engine. The crank hits the piston boss on 1 and 6 so I need to take the crank out, grind the end off and clear the base of the pistons. They are 4mm wider than the stockers. Really annoying.

Hope there was no damage to the rest of the engine.
