Re: 86 s10 2wd v8 to AWD v8 conversion
well not much progress in the past couple weeks but atleast it's something.
got the manual pedal asssembly switched out for the auto. got the ac heater box on the firewall and the heater core straightened out so it fits properly now.
yes i know under hood looks like ass! when the time comes for it to drive i'll replace the air cleaner with my K&N and extreme lid that i was saving.
also gonna change the valve covers as they are chrome and leak and chrome is ugly anyway, just not sure what i'll do.
i wanted to go with the black crinkle coat with the red chevy logo but i think they come in center bolt only.
heres my clearance, more than i expected, you can't see that well but you can actually stick your finger in there
anyone know what this guy here does? it's tied in with the harness that the heater plug is in, may be provisons for something i don't have
i'm looking forward to putting the interior back together but it seems like it's never ending to get there especially trying to put the dash in...once the doors can go back on atleast the dash can go in.
then comes center console, fun. getting the shifter bracket on will be an interesting task considering i'm not sure wich way to turn. either drill out the spot welds and place the PAS added cover on the floor the way they did, i have the whole cut from another truck, or...i dunno now that i think about it i like that idea the best. just gotta make a piece to cover the remainder of the manual transmission hole, about 1/3 of it shows.
i also need to figure out the rear shifter bracket on the floor, as my sig says, but someone mentioned that it's the same as regular s10 with a center console.
B&M industries is gonna try and snap a pic of a ty rear bracket and send it to me to compare if he gets a chance. but anyone wanna put it out for sure yes or no now?
i'm wondering though i currently have a th350 trans in it now and am not changing to the 700r4 till i go awd so will does anyone think i will have problems getting the shifter cable adjusted enough to get all the gears.
some people i know using the column shift ran their set backwards in a 3spd trans, 1st is 1st, 2nd is 2nd, 3rd is 3rd, 4th is neutral, neutral is reverse and reverse is park, and park is unused. which if you don;'t know that you are liable to to cause some damage
but i want to try to run everything the right way except 4th will be 3rd, 3rd will be second, etc.
yes, no maybe.....?
sorry about the huge train of thoughts but none of my friends are interested in this type of stuff and don't really like to listen to my excitement when i have an idea or get something done. this is the place and these posts are what keep me plugging away......
i give up for the night. and no time this week for anymore work on the truck so......next weekend
