sy not ment to be?

well, I sold my tahoe out right and gone out armed with cash. I ended up going after Jesse (hu-ryde)'s old truck. drove 41/2 hours one way. all I can say is that the truck has had a rough life. I'm now home and lost for what to do. I now have no vehicle, no sy, no ambition to do anything. this is the second time I tried to get a sy. I'm not sure what to do or where to go from this point. I haven't been to impressed by the sy's I have actually gone to look at?

Truckless. For now.
Re: sy not ment to be?

That sucks for sure. I read your other thread about being screwed by the dealer. Hang in there, there's got to be a truck out there with your name on it.

I have found with any used cars, I need to ask a ton of question before I look at the car. When I am serious about to going to see a vehicle, I ask (or email) a lot of detailed questions. For instance, someone might call the interior in mint shape, but I will ask about dash cracking, cigarette burns, carpet shape, steering wheel leather condition, seats, door panels, center console, etc. I pretty much methodically go through the vehicle before going to look at it. Usually I get a good feel for vehicle condition rather than the seller high lighting the good points and only offering the most obvious blemishes. Their shouldn't be any surprise's unless some has lied to me (BTW I have found some dealers will tell you anything to get you in.)

Re: sy not ment to be?

unfortunately I looked at tons of pics from Jesse's old site and they seemed decent and I looked at several other pics. I was gathering that the individual knew very little about these trucks and so vague answers didn't make me think to much. there were a few truth stretchers there as well but? over now so.

I hear yah. I had to drive out to the desert to get mine. But I'd recomend that you might want a basic daily driver and the sy for fun/weekend use. That's how I do it.

Just be patient and don't expect to buy a truck right off the bat. It takes a while to find the right one.

Re: sy not ment to be?

it could of won me by quickest turn off by body condition in less than a year, and shadiest mechanical situations. ( missing trans to t case bolts, melted/spliced in wiring, etc.)
all messing around asside I'm not going to slander this truck or the owner. the truck would be perfect for someone who wants a toy, it just wasn't what I or the current owner want.

Re: sy not ment to be?

I waited almost a year from the time that I decided that I wanted a syclone till the day that I bought mine. However, I wasn't actively looking for one. Back when I bought mine there wasn't much out there for sale. Then one day on my way into town, there was syclone #2932 sitting on the corner of a used car lot and the rest is history

All I can say is a syty isn't an item that you want to buy on a whim. Do your homework and have a VERY good idea what you are getting before you lay down your hard earned $. Don't be afraid to ask for help from the board to look into a truck for you. Or request if anyone knows the history of a truck if it is known.

The joy of getting a truck diminishes REAL quick when it doesn't run right and you end up spending thousands of dollars before you get to even enjoy it. It's even worse if it still doesn't run right...

Re: sy not ment to be?

i had wanted a Sy since i was about 16 or so. that was like 1997 maybe. I knew i could never afford one then and looked into them again about 5 years later. still couldnt touch one for under 12K that was in good shape. I finally found mine this past year, beat up, just really needed some TLC and cosmetic repair. its no beauty queen, it will probably need a trans in the near future but my criteria was..... if it ran and didt knock, was in decent shape and was within reason for price or below by a good amount i was all over it. I managed to get mine well below what they go for and thats only because the kid selling it was a reasonable guy and everyone that looked at it low balled him farther than he would go. i gave him his asking price after a little inspection into it which he let me do with my mechanic.

Re: sy not ment to be?

It's a matter of time, like previsouly said there are owners that have spent YEARS looking for the right truck. I am in the market for another one and have thrown a couple lines out there and unfortuntally one of the site members has offered to make me one hell of a deal on a truck I have no business owning...

Be patient, it will happen. Another thing to keep in mind, CASH talks.

Re: sy not ment to be?

yeah, i had to pass on 2 trucks because the owners wanted cash only. Which is understandable. But being over 1000 miles away from a truck, and flying in to meet someone who knows you have $15k in cash on you, its not a nice feeling.

Re: sy not ment to be?

i am sure it can be frustrating. my problem is the opposite. i found the perfect truck just waiting for my home equity line to go thru so i have the cash, hoping it doesnt sell before i get there!

Re: sy not ment to be?

I just want a clean daily driver. preferably no rust. any extras are a plus but I don't have $20,000 to throw down. I'm willing to spend up to $14,000 give or take if it was all that. but I'm not apposed to spending $7,000 on a well maintaned truck that might need a rebuild down the road and is just a good driver untill then.
