Re: Syclone #2232 wrecked
There is going to be more damage to the frame than what is visible but I could fix it.
Alot of our trucks will be deemed a Total Loss by in insurance appraiser because they can't find parts and stuff is listed in their estimating software but the list pricing is outrageous (front bumper cover at over $1K). If the appraiser finds out something is not available thru the dealer, they generally won't look for stuff let alone read this site and put time and effort into the appraisal and do it right. I could write an estimate in less than 3 minutes that declares the vehicle a total loss and be done with the claim. It's easier for the appraiser to total the truck than put time and effort into making a detailed estimate for repair.
Another thing an appraiser won't want to do is write for new oem parts on a 1991 vehicle (or 92 or 93) because their supervisor will chew them out for it. It's an older vehicle that only deserves junk yard parts. The supervisor will not care what the truck really is, they just look at numbers on repair estimates. Their job is to find fault with the appraisers. Our trucks would be an easy target.
There is so much else that goes on from an appraisers standpoint. It is easy and fast to make it a total loss so that is the way most will go.
