My housings are all shot to heck. Does anyone recommend any good aftermarket ones for an oem fit?
The cheapest alternative is the Blazer OEM style foglamps. I've bought I think three sets (my pickup loves to break foglamp mounts  ) for $18 each at Walmart. You can also purchase originals at either www.syclone-typhoon.com or on ebay relatively frequently. I have late 2nd gen style lamps on mine, they cost a ton to buy new but they can be had in the boneyard or on ebay relatively cheap. They have all plastic housings so they last forever and an easy change bulb. Thats my vote, they look better too.

EDIT: beat me to it :( :rotf:

Re: Syclone foglight replacements?

Got a set of Blazers when we first got the truck, and they look and perform like OE. Won't corrode or rust like OE either, and cheap enough to replace if they get smashed or really beat up:tup:

Argh I thought it was a straight plugin but looks like i had to take out the buckets that the oem ones sat in so the adjusters are all rusted to hell and broke off. I HATE jittery lights so how did u guys mount yours? Did you make new brackets up?

I bought a set of these already too, what a piece of crap those things are!! Don't even waste your money! They "look" just like the Blazer lights (OEM lights), but the quality is FAR from factory! (I hope i'm talking about the same ones here) Real cheap thin platic housings!

Re: Syclone foglight replacements?

Could be. I never used the lights yet. I used the glass lenses for replacements for the ones I have on there already. They look the same but I have not had them side by side.

Lol so the price of the brackets cost more than the price for the blazers

Re: Syclone foglight replacements?

I just bought a set of cheapos at the auto parts store for $24. They came with glass lenses and seemed of good quality to me. I wish everything was as easy as those fog lights to work on.

So what's the trick to getting the stock lenses separated from the housing? I can't get them to budge! I'm trying to replace just the glass as the stockers are sandblasted from 100K+ miles...

A screwdriver and a little luck... you'll need to take them out of the housings to do it, they get glued to the gasket

There are bars on either side of the light that are each held in by one screw. Take the screws out along with the bars. The the light fixture pops out. The lens is attached to the body that holds the light......just take it apart and you will see what I mean. It will take you all of 2 minutes to get it apart. You do this directly from the front of the truck.....not under neath it or trying to go behind the bumper.

Re: Syclone foglight replacements?

Oh I got the light fixture itself out... Prob is that I can't separate the glass lense from the fixture. Like Jorgensen said, they are glued on. Have tried a small screwdriver, but it just feels like the glass is going to break if I pry any harder. Just wondered if there was a trick like heating them up 1st or something.

Re: Syclone foglight replacements?

I just put the whole thing in. I didn't see any benefit from trying to pry the glass lens off. But that's just my opinion.
