Syclone help

Syclone & GN

I just purchased a Syclone about a month ago. I am having problems with it already. Once the gas is press for a hard take off , it kind of stumbles and gradually picks back up. The Mile an hour gradually goes up, but the turbo guage shoots the 15 lbs of boost with know hesitation. I am don't have many automotive skills. So I was wondering can anyone point me in the right direction or knows a knowledgeable Mechanic in the San Diego area. My stock Grand National beats it by 7 or 8 links with the wife driving. PLease Help

Re: Syclone help

Heres some places to start:
Sounds to me like it could be:
Bad plugs (either the wrong ones or bad gaps or old) use cr42ts, autolite 23s, ngk ur5s
Faulty plug wire (common issue) get a nice set of taylors with shielding
Fuel pressure isnt correct -should be around 40
Fuel pump dieing- or its not capable of delivering what you need, get a 255hr
Clogged fuel filter
Vacuum leak- listen for pssssssht
Bad gasoline (low octane maybe)

OR: Drive it up to LA and bring it to Race Proven Motors, should be a 2 hour drive at most. They should be able to give it a good look and make a diagnosis.

link to syty specific stuff from RPM (makes it really easy to replace parts with this site)

Well that is a problem, because properly running Sy's are faster than GN's stock. I would first look at replacing th eingnition component with the correct parts and then look at scan tool.

Re: Syclone help

The reason people are asking about the full tank. You should not get on it when the gas tank is 1/4 tank or less. It does sound like you need to do a full tune up. Where in San Diego are you? Maybe I can make a trip down there to help you out. PM me with details.

Re: Syclone help

I would suggest staying out of the boost until you get someone with a scan tool to see what's really going on.. reach out to some of the locals they can help you more than any street corner mechanic and please please stay way from dealerships they know nothing of these trucks and will destroy them.

Good luck

Re: Syclone help

It doesn't matter whether it has full, half or a fourth of a tanks. It still has that sly hesitation and gradual pick up. I contacted the guy I bought it from and he told me he had the dealer to put a cam in the truck because the rod or something had flattened the original cam. The work was done a dealership near Camarillo Ca. I will send picture once I figure out how to work this forum.

These trucks have a roller cam, it is pretty hard to wear a lobe out on the camshaft. I would someone is giving you a line.
