That looks like a nice ride you got there, maybe I'll try to run up to the Nats this weekend and check it out.
CLONE said:I don't like the idea at all. I wouldn't drive 50 miles to see any nationals other than the sy/ty nationals. Mix us in with a bunch of extreme's and regular s-10's and it'd be just like having a Z-11 Camaro parked next to an RS 350.
Drive it man.You can go 1/2 way, stop at my house, then we'll drive the 6 or 7 hundred more miles. No sweat.E-RUE said:i think this is a really good idea. if we can keep some separation, having the event with the s-series guys would be a smart business deal. ive been at the nats every year since i bought my truck, and its not drawing a crowd anymore. its also on the other side of the universe, so it makes it REALLY hard to get there with a truck. how is everyone getting their trucks there? i cant seem to rent anything to tow with for a reasonable amount of cash. does everyone own thier own tow vehiccles? it looks like its gonna cost me a fortune to go race. i might just have to fly up there.

who the hell would do that?SYO237 said:and getting drunk with friends and finding yourself in a bathtub the next morning...
E-RUE said:i have access to a trailer, but have no truck. i think a truck is roughly $100 a day with unlimited miles, and then another $500 for gas. i dont think i can swing $1000 dollars just to go to the nats and race my slow syclone. although id love to do it.

i really think we should consider teaming up with the S-Series to do the nationals together for 2004.
now, i know your saying, F that, im not hanging around with pansy S10/Sonoma owners who dont even have fast trucks... BUT.. heres my reasons
1. Theres a shitload of S-Series. Even if we join together, we'd still stand out from the crowd with our trucks.
Agreed but on the other hand I kinda like our small somewhat close knit group. IMO we'd kinda get lost in the shuffle..
2. Most S-Series owners envy syty owners anyhow, and probably would love to join up on the nats (ive recieved many emails on why we havent already)
Thats nice and all but I dont go to the nats to make an appearance or to get "noticed". I go to race, hang out with fellow syty ppl, act goofy, and have a good time. Nothing personal against the reg S truck crowd as I was into regular S10s for eons it seems. The hopping/frame dragging, bagged, neon lighted, and chrome everything crowd has ZERO appeal to me though. As a matter of fact I really dont even LIKE chrome.
3. S-series get magazine coverage. Face it. there isnt a damn magazine who devotes EVERY issue and has a syty featured...yet theres ALWAYS chevy and fords.... SyTy'ers alone cant get shit for magazine coverage cause our trucks are black and our trucks arent "off da hook".... at least if we team up, we would have a chance of bigger advertisment and MAYBE some magazine coverage. we all know we dont get shit for exposure.
Agreed but.... Unless you have an "off the hook" paint job that isnt black the mags might mention us in passing. Not to sound like an ass but if one of the truck mags approached me and asked to do a write up Id tell em to find someone else. I DO NOT in any way want to be associated with ANY mag that sells and/or promotes wings, chrome/clear tail lights, or any of that other garbage. On top of that their idea of performance is a way over priced ~$300 cold air kit or cat back exhaust. Sorry, dont buy into their world and wont participate. Again, not to sound like an ass but thats the way I feel.
FAST has had our annual meet for the past 2 years with the local Turbo Buicks Club... great turnout and lot more variety of people.... plus you have a variety of vehicles to look at.
Ive been to the buick nats in Bowling Green, KY myself and they are WAY more into going fast than show n shine type stuff. There were PLENTY of super nice buicks there but those same cars made passes down the track not sit in the grass with the hood up trying to blind everyone with chrome. The actual "show car" area might have had a dozen cars on average (some days less some days more) where as the staging lanes ALWAYS had ppl wanting to race when it wasnt raining.
My point? The buick guys are a diff crowd IMO and maybe thats why I personally enjoy going to their nats as well. Lotsa "hands on/I modded it myself" type ppl that I enjoy being around. I just dont see that happening with the S series nats going by the coverage Ive seen of it.
but I like our unknown/flying under the radar reputation just the way it is.
