Re: SyTy old guys

My first Great Lakes Gathering was '99. I met up with Greg and Merk and cruised out to Byron. I seem to remember some skinny white kid from California named Sean doing donuts in a Ty with the plates TRBLTY :)

TRBLTY was Ivan Phipps aka Ivan the Terrible. White Ty and Marlboro Menthol Sy. lol Sean Morris. He brought me my clear corners for my 99 S10 Xtreme out there at Byron before it was supercharged. heh
I think I still have a couple SocalSyTy stickers somewhere! lol

Bought Sy new in May of 92. Was on first internet forums in 95? Got fed up with that in 97. Didn't get back on till 2002ish. Bought Sy's in 2001, 2004, 2007 and Ty in 2007. SGT in 2004. Still have them all. Had talked to Marty back in the 90's.... A buddy of mine went to the first SYTY national gathering in NV. He drove Marys Marlboro I believe. Kept wanting me to go as it was centrally based for what a decade. Maybe if there is a west coast based meet will finally make one.

My Dad had the Ty since '94 and was telling me that he had his brother print out the list for him every week so he could read what was going on with these trucks. We didn't even have a computer back then. He told me that some guy Scott Barthomey I believe that is Dig is the one who started the list. Since then my Dad has past the Ty onto me and I am tryinjg to take the Ty to the next level. It's funny but my Dad still reads this message board after all these years and now I'm hooked on it and learning from you guys.

Your dad came to the 1st GLBBQ at my house in 97. He had the sweet floormats as I recall.

Anyone Remember the yellow Ty, "Crulsun"??

I think I bought floor mats from your dad to install in my dads typhoon before he sold it to me.

I joined the list in the late 90's via my WebTV. :rotf:

Drove my blown up truck 650 miles to the '00 Nats. When I got to KC,I washed all the oil off the back of it.

Parked it and rode around with Tommy from Boston and his boy in the copper Typhoon all weekend.Smoked much weed.

105 degrees,105 trucks (with Jesus)

That was badass.

Re: SyTy old guys

I started around the mailing list in 96-97. I lived near Marty so the SyTy bug was being fed regularly. Hung out with Marty, Merk, Jared Burkhardt, and chatted with Mary Klaus regularly as well. Hosted my Great Lake BBQ at my parents house in Naperville, IL (Chicagoland) back in 1997. Ran the "SyTy Classifieds" site before I morphed it into Sportmachines with Marty. I went by Greg Walsh or GregW from Naperville IL back then and had a 1995 S10 ext cab "SS".

I still have pics from the BBQ at your place, where Jason did the 'Stokes launch' down the street, etc.
