SyTy Parts Treasure Hunt

Re: SyTy Parts Treasure Hunt

Since you have a complete, OEM motor there, why not take *LOTS* of pictures of how things were installed from the factory. I know there are a lot of questions that come up as to which intercooler bracket goes where, etc. There aren't a ton of all original engines that can be photographed from every angle.

Just a thought while you have the opportunity.

Good of you guys to finally join the party. I will be bringing the Sy back to you as soon as I get the batt relocate and CAI installed for a final dyno tune before paint.

Probably gonna want a few parts as well. Are these parts all at your shop?

Trey

Thanks Trey! Would love to see you up at the shop! Yes, all of this stuff is at the shop, but it's still a big pile of dusty, disorganized stuff. Probably be next week before we have it sorted out.

Yes, that's an awesome idea, and we're going to do just that. Always great to catalog these things and add a bit to the archive!

I think this is a wonderful find. Remember folks, competition drives prices down; monopoly's drive it up. As long as different folks find large stashes like this, it is a good thing for them AND us.

That will only prove true when the prices are posted, if they are going to be for sale. I know alot of members on the board would like to make their old trucks look nicer with some new pieces. Alot of them can't or won't pay the "market rate" for cladding. I know some people do it for a business, but sometimes I find the prices more on the gouging side. Sure they spent their money to buy everything they can and will sit on it till the cows come home and will make money off of the investment, because that's what they did it for in the first place. That drives up prices also. If for example somebody came to the site with 100 drivers front cladding and sold them for $250.00 a piece, that would drop the prices down.

Is it too early to call dibs on the wheels?

Nice score with the parts. I would be thrilled if it were me. Congrats on the purchase of the best color Typhoon ever built!

Wow! I was wondering what to expect after reading the title Treasure Hunt. I can feel the excitment for the owners of the the inventory. It truley is a SyTy Tresure that has been calmly hidden for nearly 20 years and fortunatly now its in the hands of someone who can properly organize and distribute to buyers esspecially the bone stock lovers.

Looking forward to the updates. (I am getting my hopes up that there will be a pallet of hard intercooler pipes LOL)

Thanks for the interest! We're still cataloging what we have, but we'll be posting some details up very soon. We think that we want to keep the engine/transmission/transfer case together as a package as that's the way it came from GM.

. . . and speaking of the engine / transmission / transfer case, here are the tags we found on it as we took a closer look last night.

Yeah, we thought that was interesting too. I'm not a SyTy historian, but I think that Maldaver Co. used to be the parts supplier for GM for the project. Could be that they intended to do a run of '92 Syclones and they produced a bunch of the drivetrains, but then just sold them into the dealerships as replacements when the '92 Syclone was cancelled. It would be very cool to hear from someone who knows something about it!
