Not sure I'd even want to chance somebody with a Tech2 around my truck...Datamaster seems to think everything is just fine on my laptop...

Have them back up the info prior to reflash. Store it to the secondary card slot (we can do that in engineering, but not sure what dealers can do.)

Usually we need to call down for a VCI number to back up the calibration, sometimes making it think it's a new vcm will allow us to chose a backdated cal as well.

I need to pick you brain about rertofitting a factory remote start on a 2005 allure/lacrosse for a friend of mine, mind if I shoot you a PM?

GMC Syclone- 3,009 units total

Now, let me explain this before everyone starts with 1001 questions. This number represents the total number of "sub-platform" vehicles with the Syclone desgination. That does not mean total sold. It means total made period. Out of those 3,009 you have to deduct crash testing, mistakes, ect. So, the actual # delivered WILL be different. As we are "auditing" all this information I will keep posting the totals we are coming up with. Keep in mind, some vehicles got destroyed during development, but 3,009 is the firm number of Syclones with the Syclone platform designation. Also, not all of the 3,0009 may even have a VIN. Some vehicles are made and a VIN is not issued because it's considered a prototype.

Hmm.....only 14 prototypes?

The information compiled: http://www.sportmachines.com/history/sy-proto.php so far designates more than that. what gives? I always thought there were MORE, not less.

did you query '88 through '92?

I do have the VIN for each vehicle (except the concept)...so I'm curious what field you are querying?

I'll be interesting when you do the Typhoon's...those suckers are tricky (91's, 4-dr, etc)

It could be that its only triggering the 1GDCT Vin's. This is the reason I post the Sy Vin, I know they are all black, but I figuired it might help determine how many. I noticed the 001 92 Sy has a 1GTDT VIN

Also 'crazykaese' has that funny looking VIN that maybe a 91 Typhoon that maybe he could help with, though I think the color breakdown would be top priority....

Actually, it depends. Some of the concept vehicles aren't considered a true "Syclone" platform because they are "build ups" off a standard truck. The 3009 represents vehicles coming off the line with the Syclone designation. I'm sure that the first few that were built weren't true Syclone's. They could just be standard trucks retrofitted.

I also think color breakdown should be priority #1. Especially Aspen Blue. ;)

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

Here is my VIN# 1GKCT18ZXM0500450 . It comes up as a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4X4 when I try and go through NJ DMV inspection. Any info on this wierd number would be appreciated. No rush though - only posted it since my name came up in the thread. It should be an interesting one though.

I have the carfax for this one too - and it ain't pretty.

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

The trucks referred to as "pre-production" typically are not "off the line" trucks. There are "engineering retrofit" trucks that are "built" off a standard platform truck. They build these for a "proof of concept" type deal where they can show all aspects of the vehicle prior to production engineering approval. In order for engineering to get a vehicle approved for production, they have to display everything about it and show why it should be built. So, they'll take standard off the line vehicles and convert them. I"d say atleast 5 to 10 preproduction models are hand built off a standard Sonoma truck. Those kind of vehicles aren't going to be part of the 3009. But, when I get all the numbers together, I will be able to tell you which VIN's are the one's that are engineering retrofit, and which one's are "off the line" Syclones.

Not asking for detailed info, just throwing another rare number out there for the database.

This triggered something in my memory which might come up later on in this endeavor... Somewhere between '97 and '00 a Syclone came up for sale in duPont Registry which was "The only Apple Red/Apple Red Syclone produced". IIRC, it was said to be originally owned by a GM employee. It had 6k miles and was priced at $31k. I may still have that issue of DPR, but if I do, it's in a box in a storage unit in Alaska, so don't expect me to dig up the VIN out of that ad any time soon :)

According to PAS records, only one white/white 92 was made.

If you have something that shows different, would love to hear about it.

A task taken on by a number of GM employees in the past regarding color combination production figures have resulted in dead ends, as the RPO codes do not report color of the cladding.

This would mean only accurate color production figures could only be reported for the Blue, Green and Garnet colored trucks.

A number of shipping documents from PAS to GM (PAS being final assembly) do not even note accurate colors, specifically for the 92 typhoon.

NO shipper documents from the 93 model year were recorded by PAS. Most of the odd colored trucks (raspberry and radar) come up funky, as the RPO code does not match the color code.

Up until this point, colors have been recorded for the Sportmachines.com database sightings and owner feedback. If we can crack the color mystery......what will I do with my spare time ...lol

My guess is the Typhoon with 9 miles on it is all white?

THREAD HAS BEEN CLEANED!

Posts have been either merged into other posts (Elvis, all your truck info is in its own post now, about your wht/wht purchase) or has been removed to help decipher the important stuff.

Whew, you guys are hard to keep up with :)

Lets keep this thread to the topic of SyTy Secrets. Thanks!

Awesome thread. Are you addicted if you read over 100 post about these things? Anxiously awaiting the counts on color.

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

Looks like a complete list
I think I am most interested in the Forest Green SoGT... (well besides the number of Aspens)Is that a known VIN for the Forest? Does it exist? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Great work guys and MUCH thanks to Elvis for his efforts!
  Two thumbs up from me.
