well that is great news right there. Surprising that "it needs to be done" and don't have someone just assigned to do it. Silly GM

I'm available should GM decide to hire this person to be assigned......

Joking aside, let's not do what I just did  and continue to convolute this thread....or maybe a new thread should be (or already has been) created for this with the relevant info intact?

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

I have some really good updates to give on all the prototype trucks.

I'll have to get it in text form, but its a big jump in finding info out on what the protos where.

Probably get it up tonight!

Big thanks to Marty, Merk, Opie, Scott and John for this info so far...

The list below is from John Koss,

#001 The Little Red Truck scrapped 1990
#002 was suppose to be a Barrier test vehicle. I think it became a Chassis / Transmission Development truck, I believe it was scrapped.
#003 I believe it was scrapped.
#004 I believe it was scrapped.
#005 I believe it was scrapped
#006 I believe it was scrapped
#007 This one may have survived
#008 I think this was sold in 1994
#009 OLD No9 I still have it 278,000 miles on it. It's awaiting an Extreme makeover.
#010 Crashed during testing in Texas
#011 I believe it was scrapped
#013 I believe it was scrapped
#014 I believe it was scrapped
#015 I believe this the black one on the website that clams to be #0001" The weight on the rear bumper was for traction when pulling a Towing Dyno.
#016 Not Sure
#017 Crashed in Barrier Test
#018 Sold to Dave Polletta in 1996, not sure if he still has it.
#019 Gm still know this truck, PPG Pace Truck
#020 GM sold it at auction 2005 ?
#021GM sold it at auction 2005 ?
#022 I have this in my garage 45 miles on it. "Some Assembly Required "

Mr Koss also mentioned that Dave Polletta passed away this last spring. He was the Generial Manager of PAS Inc.

Take a number and get in line dude....its a long long long line.

And I already called dibs about 9 years back, and I wasnt even the first. :p
Luckily, I got to drive the PPG back in 2000. Oh what a sweet joy it was to have my ass grace the seat of such a historic truck and turn on the light bar and people mover siren.

I am just holding my breath waiting to see if the vins on our Ty's correspond with the actual production #'s .

Elvis is this something you can find out?

I can tell you that, no, they do not. For instance, I have the build folders for 10 consecutive VINS sitting here on my desk. Here's things about them:

Code:
Last 4 of VIN | Engine Sequence | Date of drivetrain document | Date received by PAS
    0118 0152 9-20-1991 9-30-1991
    0119 0151 9-20-1991 9-26-1991
    0120 0147 9-19-1991 10-01-1991
    0121 0150 9-20-1991 9-30-1991
    0122 0155 9-20-1991 9-26-1991
    0123 0149 9-20-1991 9-26-1991
    0124 0094 9-16-1991 10-01-1991
    0125 0068 9-13-1991 9-25-1991
    0126 0071 9-13-1991 9-25-1991
    0127 0132 9-19-1991 10-03-1991

BTW, all of these dates and items are already in the Sportmachines Registry. Click on any truck in the registry and if I have already gone through that truck, we have the info and dates listed. You can go throught sequential trucks and see that the dates jump all over.

Also, when PAS would quote truck sequence numbers, they would use the Engine Sequence number for some reason. Those people who have a document that states their Production Number, it's the engine sequence number.

Cheers.

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

I was at the annual Firehawk Rally in Norwalk Ohio.
I met up with a Syclone owner. His Sy was #24 and it was clean.
It had ZR1 chrome wheels. It ran 11's on Saturday.

It was a young kid 25 to 30yrs old.

Doug, please get me the entire VIN so I can try to research this truck and figure out what it is about. Also, are there any odd stickers in the door jam or inside the gas filler area?

Thanks.

Chuck Mountain still has two Syclones down in florida, pre production or prototype....dont remember. He saved them from being crushed, and still drives them today.

Doug,

We think that truck might be #025 Pre-Pilot. Still researching ....
