What stringy stuff can you put in a T-56 trans that won't hurt it?
Something like STP or Lucas...

I used Moreys in the 4-speed portion of my 85. (Not the overdrive). It had synchros that were a little too loose and grindy to pass Performance Verification. I used 50/50 gear oil and Moreys. It worked pretty well.
I'm not positive, but doesn't the T56 use ATF? IIRC, some transmissions use paper cone clutches, rather that the old-school brass synchros (like the T-10 in my 85). I believe the T56 may be one of these. If this is the case, maybe try the red-bottle Lubeguard that's for use in automatics. I'd only put about a 1/4 bottle in it.
If you hear noises, no additive is likely to help. I don't think there's a way to thicken the lube, and not harm the paper clutches, if this is indeed the case. You need to determine the type of lube it uses. If it's ATF, you don't have many options. If any.
I wonder if this is just gear rattle, like the 6-speed ZF makes? In Corvette, they use the dual-mass flywheel (it has rubber dampers between the engine and clutch mounting points on the flywheel) to mitigate it. It's caused by the torque-pulses of the engine power strokes overcoming the springs in the clutch disc, and the two elements of the disc bang back-and-forth. I could see where this might occur in 4th, at low RPW, with a high-torque engine. (Yours qualifies).
There might not be anything wrong. Perhaps a clutch disc with stronger springs could help.
NOT the pressure plate. The clutch DISC. Those damper springs in the middle of it.
in my 95 z28, my brothers 94 ta , and also his 00 ta with the t-56 did the same thing at low rpms
