Tach stopped working... Help

I was having some misfire and tach flutter issues .... I replaced plugs wires and distributer. didnt fix the problem so I replaced the ignition coil ... this seems to have fixed the misfire but now my tach doesnt work ... it worked fine before I replaced the ignition coil. I have checked the connections to both clips on the coil and both are on snug. I put the old coil back on to see if it was just the coil.... tach no longer works with that one either. does anybody have any ideas why my tach stopped working?

Thanks for all of your help so far

double check your wiring between the dist. / coil i.e. redish-pinkish and white wire harness . if memory serves me right

the only think I can think of is after I installed the coil I forgot to put the coil wire back on when I went to start it ... it arced a couple time before I relized it .... could this have shorted anything out in the process???? what do the 2 moduals in front of the coil do?

Check the two things on the back of the distributor (towards the firewall) and make sure they're plugged in all the way, if at all.

Arcing is a bad thing. Kinda like a voltage spike from a lightening strike. Make sure you disconnect the battery next time you work on something like this and give the coil a little time to discharge as it will hold a charge for a short time after shut down.

The wire that feeds the tach is the white one coming off the coil; runs STRAIGHT to the gauges with nothing in between. Hopefully you didn't pooch something inside the gauges. Pull the cluster and ohm between the white wire on the coil and the white wire (Z) shown in this pic; this is what the plug behind the cluster looks like. If you have continuity all through that wire, the odds of your tach being fried start to increase.....
