I did my preliminary taxes this past weekend. What a disappointment, I owe a little over $2K more than I expected :rant: Its my own fault, I was going to do a projection in Novemeber but I never got around to doing it, to make sure I was having enough with held.

What sucks is the money is going to come from my Syclone motor fund (which was funded from the sale of my Corvette) :tdown: This drastically changes my build of my shortblock.

I just had to vent, this suprise ruined my weekend :squint:

I know those blues. Before I bought my house(s) my wife and I owed 10k. We claimed 0 each the whole year but with our income and no write-offs we got killed. After the housed we get about 1-2k back each year. my good friend is my cpa and he does a good job for me. Kinda sucks when you had the cash saved for something else

ewwww I luckily have NEVER owed taxes. I dont have a house or kids though....so I dont get much back ---

Well that was one my miscalculations, I never changed my wifes deductions after our foster daughter moved out.

i'm gonna try to do my taxes on time for the first time in 5yrs this year :lol: If i only owe $2k i'll be happy :(

Sounds like you guys need better accountants :lol: hint...hint
I personally do over 1200 returns out of the 7000 clients we have from around the US
My first appointment is 10am, my last one is 9pm, then I do my mail-in returns till midnight or so...7 days a week until 4/17 this year.
I do get lucky this year though, Easter Sunday is 4/8 so I get 1 day off

what do you charge. I'm not overly thrilled w/ my acct...and at $375-400/return i'm unimpressed. The main reason i always owe money is becuase i just guess throughout the year on my estimated payments. I have no clue what i'll end up paying myself each year, so its tough to estimate :lol:

That sucks. Im happy cause i get married in September 07 and my fiance has 2 kids that live with me... Well after we are married I FINALLY get to claim them! Right now I just fully support the kids and her but I cant claim any deductions... grrrrrr

We start at $200 and up depending on the return, deductions, schedules and number of states. PM me what you normally do and I can give you a price. Also why are you doing estimates? Are you self employed or 1099'd?

self employed in an llc...K1 which would already be created by the acct. I'll pm some details later today.

i'm hoping the $10k+ i've paid in interest this year gets me something back.. last year was the first time I used an accountant, he is the father of the guy who used to own my truck, i got a letter from him in the mail and figured what the hell..

anyhow, he got me more money back last year than turbotax so I figure i'll go back to him this year.

I still havent gotten my w2 ... isnt today the last legal day that the company is supposed to make sure its in my HANDS?! WTF?!

ps. Erik I feel ya, being young ( same age as me ) ... I just looked at my last check and paid $22k in federal, state, and social security fees!!! I only expect $1400 back at the MOST :( ---

I agree. Taxes do suck, but I can't complain as much this year. It still sucks when the government takes 20 f'ing % of your pay.

Last year we got $500ish back I think. This year we are nearing $2500. Thanks to my new little slugger. :tup:

A guy I work with has 10 kids. Needless to say he doesn't have to worry about paying taxes.

YAY, just did mine online ( so that saved me $$$ ) , and I ended up getting about $220 more than I expected.....SWEET!!! ---
