TC gone bad within 18 months

I have my TC replaced about 18 months ago. The hard vibration I got at low loads went away for about a year. It started up again about 6 months ago. Has my TC gone bad again? Was it bad in the first place and the new one just covered up another problem? When I told the guy who installed it that I was having the problem he said it sounded like my transmission was going bad.

You'll prolly get more views/replies in the Drivetrain section.

Is the TC actually locking up? Get up to speed (say 55-60 mph) and while cruising, lightly hit the brakes (just enough to make the brake lights come on). You should see & feel the engine rev a little higher and the drop back down again. This will be a good first test to verify the integrity of the converter & electronics. This doesn't rule out the TC by any means, but it'll help narrow down some stuff.

Have you checked to see if something is loose? TC bolts, flywheel bolts, balancer, etc....could all cause harsh, rpm-specific vibrations.

Good luck & let us know,
