Thank you Bravada

The last two days have been very tedious...My own fault. I started with a letter from DMV that said that I needed to have my Sy Smoged and inspected at a state STAR station before I can get my tags. So Saturday morning I went to the junk yard for a stock airbox for my Sy. I was in luck, After 10 minutes of looking, I found a Jimmy with one. :) Made my morning. I didn't want to spend all day searching junk yards for one. So on the way out I passed by a Bravada and had to STOP and go back. It had my electric mirrors. Needless to say I spent the rest of that day and the next pulling the mirrors off and putting them on my Sy. Why did it take me 2 days to put mirrors on.... Well First, Let me say that they are now installed and WORKING. :) I removed the mirrors and the wiring harness out of the Bravada without cutting a single wire. YEP. That means I had to pull the dash and the door panels. On not one, but two vehicles. I wanted my Sy to look as if it would have come from the factory that way. So with all the nuts, bolts, unwrapping wires, re-wrapping wires, Feeding wires through grommets. I can finally say that I'M DONE. :) Now it's time to work on the SMOG thing.

I made it with a piece of conduit and a scrap piece of aluminum sheet. It cost me $0. I bent the conduit and drilled it to mount to the seat bolts. Then I riveted a piece of aluminum to the top and put a CF decal over it. The sun gave a glare that made it hard to drive. It took me about an hour to make.

edit: added pic.

Re: Thank you Bravada

They should have come that way. Good find, and good job installing them properly!

A: If in the future, you need to borrow parts for a smog check, just ask.
B: Isn't the mirror wiring a blast? I've done several. there's a reason a lot of Syclones have non-operational Ty mirrors. It's a royal PITA. On my DD pick-up, I didn't bother with R&R the IP. I ran the mirror wires separately, under the dash. Still had to fish them through the grommets, though.
C: You went to the trouble to do the mirror wiring, why didn't you put in the RKE from the Bravada at the same time? It's in the same harness as the mirrors.

A: Thanks.

B: Yes it was a BIG PITA. I don't think that I want to do it again any time soon.

C: I have it, But I did not install it. I have an aftermarket RKE installed.

Ahhh DaveP with the welcome wagon.

I never liked my MM ears on my old Sy. Looks much better with the Bravada mirrors.

The 92' Syclones were going to have the Ty mirrors, I got the wire loom from GM parts in 92' when I did mine, also got Marty a set for his Sy.

Re: Thank you Bravada

Jay, what yard did you go to...and what year Bravada did you find there?

I dont know NADA about Brvada. If I had to guess, I would say it was a 93. It looked like this one.

I found it at Ecology in Wilmington.

Re: Thank you Bravada

It was a 92! Dave and I (mainly Dave) grabbed the propshaft. You really did a number on that dash, lol. We used a door panel as a floor mat while under the car.

Ha! I've done stuff like that in a yard. I've pulled out many a bed mat or seat cover to lay on.

Re: Thank you Bravada

I may go back. I'd like to get the rear wheel speed sensors off it. Only 91 4-door and 92 Blazer/Jimmy have them. Rare to find in boneyards now. They're $85 on rock auto, and frequently go bad. I have 4 trucks with 4-sensor ABS. I'd like some spares. I'd also like to convert the 93 to 4-sensor someday. Hmmm. Maybe the backing plates too then...

When I go to rear disks in a month or two, you want my old sensors? I've done the ABS delete already, so they'll be of no use to me anymore.
