Re: Thanks for the support from the Bully crew!

Jeez those days were fun. If you think back real hard though, each one of us oldies has been involved in some list/board drama at one time or another.
I went last year and recall it being pretty laid back, maybe too laid back? Bring back Ben D Banana!

well there were obviously cliques of people due to the comfortability factor of knowing people already, but any smack talk was all in good fun. I dont think the smack talk about who's marlboro truck was gonna win back in 99, is the same some of the more recent drama. All i can recall back then was hanging out with everyone from canada, florida, chitown and socal not to mention all the other individuals. We had Ron Gregory showing us different head castings, as well as Brian Hartman and few others giving free tech sessions. Trips to Hooters and druken fork throwing and wrestling in the conference rooms back at the hotel. Back then I dont think anyone was alienated (maybe Ivan after he stole Chris P's fiance or girlfriend). lol

I'm sure had i attended this year i would have had a great time like many of you. I checked the boards to get updates whenever possible, and the only impression i got of the entire gathering was a negative one, b/c Bully tipped off track officials thats Robert's truck was not legal.

What Bully has been accused of is obviously not in good fun. However i think many have escalated it to another level by saying he has no idea what he is doing, and he is a moron for not lifting when his truck pops and sputters going down the track. I think it is comendable that he had the balls to stay in it and put out some 10.00 timeslips (which is impressive to say the least) He could have lifted then everyone would have made fun of him b/c his truck ran 13's but instead proved that it does run and it just had some complications they were unable to fix.

Again, I was not there so my viewpoints may be twisted. I just worry that some people will get scared off by all the drama.

Either way the most important thing is that Robert eliminated all the "myths" about the tracks being different, timing equipment being different, track going down hill and all the other crap that people just couldnt live with as a result of someone from Sweden going faster than everyone else. Now he can at least go run well into the 8's over there and all the flaming can stop.

Okay, Morgan since you put this in writing i am going to make a comment about this community.

your last sentence say's it all - "all the flaming can stop"

I truely think this is one of the reason some members don't make it to the events. They get tired of all the people talking smack about each other. Just think a couple years/months ago everyone was flaming Robert about the track not being equal and to prove it he shipped his truck here. Let say what if he didn't need to prove it and we all just said sh!t you went how fast that's freaking awesome.

Now lets Look at Ed Hess - everyone said he'd never go fast and they flamed the shit out of him for all of his mods. Now looks at him i bet he could teach a few of us a couple things.

There are so many other things that i could list that people have done wrong in this community. That is one of the reasons it getting smaller everyday.

And if the members truely think there was no drama at the 02 Nats that Opie and I put together your wrong. One of the Key Vendors (Marquee Sponsor) renegged on his donation and i pony up the $500.00 out of my pocket to cover his ?ss so he could keep face in the comunity and then have the balls to call Foul play in the last race and then take the purse money that should have not gone to him in the first place.

After the 02 nats i got to see who the really good vendors were and that is whom i've purchased stuff from for the build on my truck. I just wish JS made more stuff for the 2wd guy's and i would spend more money with him.

PS - Mike i think the Marlboro Race in 99 wasn't a good anology as everyone already know's that i have no idea how to stage at the light. I am the read light king.

I'll get to read all of this before I give an answer, BUT a fact is that one of the bully team dropped his "color" came over and talked to Robert about... tuning... :D and Robert answered as he normaly do..

I for once meet the "leader" john on my way up to check for tracktion that satur day.. and he gave me a fast glims and then dropped his head.. didnt he dare to se me in my eyes?

One of hes crue was over at Roberts truck when given tech and complained about the rules so they are resonsible for the "smack"

The trackcheif/Tech inspector had heard and knowed everything "about the swedish truck" allready on friday????

I will wait untill our vacation is ended to get the time to summon everyting and read all post then I get my opinion to this...

The fact is I for one wanted his truck to run its best this weekend and they didnt want Roberts to run at all..

for now ...

actually i thought you were going into the gutter at first. and yes this thread needs some humor

let's get totally off topic
http://www.autoweldchassis.com/newprod.ivnu <-- check this out

anyone know a good joke i do heard it today and it's actually about drag racing

Involuntary Muscular Contractions
A University Professor was giving a very serious boring lecture
on "Involuntary Muscular Contractions" to his first year medical
students. Realizing that this was not the most riveting subject,
the Professor decided to lighten the mood slightly.

He pointed to a young woman in the front row and said, "Do you
know what your asshole is doing while you're having an orgasm?"

She replied, "Probably Drag Racing with his buddies."

I want you and Robert to know that most think it regretable that such tactics were used. You have many people wishing you Swedes the best. Just when we Americans have a chance to show some goodwill to our friends in Europe, it is soured by the work of one.

Okay I am tired of shutting up,and I am not going to be my usual asshole self.Just the facts, what happened, why it happened, and the effects.

True story without the spin.

First of all let me say that any ill feelings that Bully's crew had were the result of their own actions.I understand about their anal retentative "thing" about NHRA rules.

They like rules.

Now lets look at the facts: The Hoovers,McCoy,Peter H,Dean Ollar, Les, ect,ect ect would have NEVER made a pass at the Nats if the NHRA had been notified beforehand.Shit my truck doesn't have a battery cutoff switch, but tech Nazi didn't even notice my battery in the back next to the five gallons of methonal.

For one simple reason. Someone in Bully's "crew" went meddling into Robert's buisness that they had no right to mess with, and ruined a guy's dream.

WHY? This event has never been about tech, but these clowns want to make it the main issue?

WHY?

I do not know.Sure it's rules.but why would you TRY and get someone disqualifed?

This is just a friendly get together.Always has been.

As far as the cliques, that is just BS.There was the bully clique and everyone else.

There were numerous attempts to welcome them with open arms, but it was all met with snide remarks, silence,or staring by them.AllI can say is you reap what you sow guys. You isolate yourselfs, act like thugs, and just generally **** OUR event all up,how do you expect to fit in?

You ****ed Roberts money. You made his wife cry.You acted like tough guys, and how did you like the Nats?

:stupid: I beleive even even despite what happen with the pre-nats banter, if Bully's crew came to the nats with an open mind and dropped the petty NHRA rule thing, they would have had a good time.

You are comparing high 10 second trucks with low 9 second and high 8 second trucks, they are in a totally different class and warrent a good look over.

Wasn't the fastest pass made at nationals only a high 10 before this year?

Gotta compare apples to apples.

I read Robert got first in his class, I assume to do that you must be able to race? So why not drop it since both trucks were able to get down the 1320.

Re: Thanks for the support from the Bully crew!

Track told us not to run past 10's, we decided to let it all hang out during finals and ran 9.11 and got told to not run again. Track kicked us out, syty nats rules did NOT. That is how Robert won.

Now after saying that let me say this. Roberts first goal was not to come to nats, win, etc. He came to show people his truck, answer questions, and met the people he has talked with for 10+ years. (he bought that sy in 1992).

What him and myself really wanted to see was an 8 run, and the truck had it in it, we just didn't have enough runs or traction to make it happen. In the end we did have a great time and talked and hung out with great group of guys. That is really what matters.

Wow - Was his truck a Saudi Truck or a GM Export since he bought it in 92 ?

Re: Thanks for the support from the Bully crew!

Wow. I guess I wasn't really prepared for this kind of drama at a 'professional' event. Let me introduce myself - I'm Jeff and I was the guy with the Bully group that didn't have a logo'd shirt on. I've never been to a Sy/Ty event before, or even been on the boards, but after reading all the animosity here I think I have some input that will help.

First, I'd like to congratulate robert on an amazing run with his truck - thats was truly incredible! Also, I'd like to point out that on Friday he went out of his way to introduce himself to me and spent a few minutes talking about his truck - Robert, my hat is off to you. And I sincerely hope that the drama over the weekend didn't wreck your trip.

I do wish I had been able to talk to some of his other team members, but unfortunately once I was associated with the bully crew, I was passed by when I approached a few of them. Ah well. It wasn't really directed at me personally - I think.

I was lucky enough to meet some really cool people - Jimmy, Zman, two guys out of NM (sorry - didn't catch the names), and a handful of other really cool guys.

There was one guy with his boy that came up to us on Saturday in the afternoon that made a post about the bully crew being standoff-ish and cold shouldered. I'd like to offer apologies if that's how it came across. When you came up to the trailer, I'm not sure if John or his #2 heard you ask to look around. They were pretty bummed out about the tune, and were really focused on that - but if you were made to feel uncomfortable, it honestly was not intentional.

I've read many, many posts about John and how he's so bad, and other things - accusations, insults, lots more. I guess maybe he's gotten a bad rap because of a huge misunderstanding. I asked a bit about the whole "rules" issue, and seriously folks, It was never their intention to direct that towards robert in any way. It was a call made about his own truck because he wanted to be all set to run. It somehow was referred to out of context, and the rest is history. My only point being that John is a really cool guy, and one hell of an innovator. Say what you may about his truck not running well, but he's the only person to ever make an injected, turbo oddfire function at all.

Lots of people keep posting on how the bully crew were so isolated all weekend - not entirely true, but for the most part, when there's all the lead in drama (I've read the other posts....), I guess it's natural to be a bit on guard. But, at one point John went over to robert to talk, which they did for a good while. Alex and I both went all around and talked with all kinds of people. After roberts first run, I even went over, shook his hand and congratulated him (and his crew) on an amazing pass, and some great work. So lets please not make a blanket statement that the bully crew were rude and unsportsman like.

I'm not here to stir the pot, toss out insults, or point fingers. I just thought maybe someone should say something in favor of John and his crew, because they really are a great bunch, and I'm certain that if any of you were to approach them with a clean slate, you'd be greeted as I was. Insults get us nowhere, and although I'm sure to soon be the recipient of many, they are simply a waste of time.

To everyone that brought a vehicle - great job on them all - I've rarely seen such dedication to a specific goup of vehicles like those I saw this weekend. Everyone had done amazing jobs with them, and I commend you! Keep up the good work, and don't lose sight of what brought you all here - the love of the Sy/Ty.

Re: Thanks for the support from the Bully crew!

I think any drama that was ever started was not a result of John or Robert. I'm sure things will be different in nationals to come, but I think it would be easy for many of us to step back and learn from this one.

I hope that nobody found me to be rude or non-sociable. Maybe to Vinny when he asked me to smell his finger, but I had good reason.
