Re: The Former "White Turd"

Hardman and I had brain stormed some ideas and he wanted a wide single SS style stripe. I had everything else done and the hood/cowl panel left to go. I layed out a wide stripe and stood back and thought.. .man anyone can dupicate this or have one like it. So... I tore it all back off and used spray mask to lay out the large flame pattern.
It ends on the cowl panel next to the front window... no need to go over the roof/t-gate as that would be too much.
I think black Typhoon stickers on the doors/t-gate will finish it off and tie the color combo together nice. The rims need to go... or at the least the centers painted black.

Had to take it all apart to do it right. I don't think there's any signs of it being white anymore unless you peel up carpet. The roof rack was fun to remove.. had to send it out to put a new headliner in it since it had to be pulled to weld all 2million holes Lol.
The FBI and I have "Plans" :)

Paint them.... I think that style painted looks badass on Typhoons.

Re: The Former "White Turd"

I think I found someone new to do my paint when I'm ready. My body guy is backed up all to hell, and it'll probably take him a year or two anyways.

I think all body guys are the same way... I've got a few that have been here for awhile. Some by parts problems and other by my own demise of taking too much on. Large projects are overwhelming for anyone. The smaller jobs keep you fed and pay bills. The large ones tend to take up space and when you look at them you just have a hard time biting it all off in one big chomp so it's hard for anyone. There's no big mystery to large projects.... just hard to keep motovated on them.
What project are you working on? The Garnet?
Be glad to help if you need it.

Re: The Former "White Turd"

Having done bodywork myself it is like watching paint dry (pun intended) as far as labor goes. Large projects take a lot of time and until you actually spray the paint and assemble not much satisfaction except for sore arms.

Although I have not seen the truck yet, I have seen the details/bill and Scott is very resonable and fair. Obviously insurance didn't cover the full cost of this job, actually they only paid for about half.

So what is everybody's thought, paint rim centers black now? I have some influence on what happens next. He planned to sell them and get some Z06 rims, but unless someone wanted to trade for some these will probably stay for a bit.

Re: The Former "White Turd"

Why am I confused, in all the pics I see the entire rim is black besides the lip. I think that makes it look GREAT.... totally custom ---

Id like them the way they are, but if they are going to get done, yes do them black.

The rims in the center now are gray... a metalic gray... Might be hard to tell with the bright snow.

Your not confused... my camera is like 1/2 a pixel and uses batterys like crazy.. I should steal my wifes... her's is half the size and is amazing.

I kind of have the "Brick" cell phone of cameras Lol.

Re: The Former "White Turd"

The silver is a color I made up. It's a simple color that matches exactly when painted in peices.

There was no other way to do thes trucks other than paint it in peices seperately. It would not be such a big deal with the cladding a seperate color.. but when it's all the same there's no other way to do it. And a color change demands that every little thing comes apart so there's nothing that doesn't get paint on it when someone looks. Takes alot of extra time but it's well worth it as a final job.
This is another one I did for a guy.....Different silver... Another friend of mine did the disassembly/re-assembly and a great job of it too... Why a 81vette? no idea.. but it's one of the nicest 81's I've ever seen.
