The raspberry made it home safely.

The raspberry made it home late tuesday night. I can't hardly wait to start working on it. It needs some tlc but it will be fun to work on. I need a tailgate and two doors for starters. Can i still buy these parts new? It also has one problem that i don't like. The area behind the drivers door behind the cladding for that spot the metal is rusting. I think that i need to replace the floor???? I think this is the part that is damaged. If i am correct the rear section of floor is set onto the frame and it bends down behind the piece of cladding that i am speaking of and is welded to the rocker. Is this correct? If so what all has to be done to correct it? Do i need to replace the entire rear floor or is there a seam someplace that it can be detached from? I don't and will not hack up this truck. If need be i will remove the whole floor if possible to fix it correctly. I will post up a few picks,

Damn you. You bought my truck. If my wife would have let me take out a home equity loan, I would have been all over that. But one Ty in pieces is enough right now. Good buy, and good luck with the resto.

Re: The raspberry made it home safely.

Why not just chop of the ROT and weld a new 1/4" panel in place of it. It is an area you do not see, and if you double the new panel u should get the same strength if not more.

Naw, not repairable. Truck is totally eat up with rust and a lost cause...... I'll give ya $500 more than you paid for it for parts ;) ! Now if you actually bought that line of BS :rotf: ... I will buy it from you. If not then your repair idea is prolly ok but I would consider letting a pro do the actual re-fit even if you do all the rest of the work. Just make sure all the rust is gone, gone, gone (bead blast, chemical treatment etc.) and use quaility coating materials on the patchs  .

well that's the thing. I don't want to just put a small patch panel in. I want to keep the truck as original as i can so if i have to replace the entire panel i will. My problem is i don't know what the name of the part that is damaged is called for starters.

yea it's a shame. This is the only area of the truck that is in poor shape. The interior, motor and the rest of the body is ok. I guess someone drove this all winter and never washed it.

Re: The raspberry made it home safely.

thats the inner rocker and the floor you looking at, to get them off you are going to have to remove the outter rocker, ( part you see) also the rust is into the quarters so figure on replacing them also Refer to PM

LMC now has 1/4's and rockers for our trucks, if you want to look into them.

Ok cool. I am going to remove the cladding and have a better look of what needs to be done. I will get some better pics up as well.
