The SyTy ear to ear grin...

Well, its been a long time since my Ty got me to grin. Problem after problem have been causing more anger than anything else. Well, this weekend, I test drove a Mitsu EVO MR. All I could think about was how I got the same feeling from my Ty.....It was a bittersweet experience. The good thing is that when I've had enough of working on something that never seems to get better, I do have an alternative.

That EVO MR is a bad boy!!! Power delivery was too smooth. I think its time to sell the farm.....And the Ty. The one I tested was 40k. A bit much for my tastes but I think I might make an exception.....

Heard they have weak trans, look at a Subaru STi plus the STI beat the Evo. STi looks like a station wagon though. I daily drive an 07 STi and love it.

So do SYTY's. And I hate to say it but I have heard the exact same thing about the STi's. It sucks when your truck gives you so much grief that you need a different ride to give you that feeling again. I'm curious to know if I will ever feel that way. Even in the state my truck is currently in, I get the ear to ear grin everyday. Only time i really get angry is when it plain flat out embarrasses me, like breaking down on cruise night, launching so it can stall, that kind of thing. Good luck, hope you don't have to sell. EVO's are pretty bad but I have only lost to a few and they had more than a few mods. I test drove one and thought it felt super cheap inside but it did shit and git. Not like the Ty but yeah....

I've never heard a complaint about the Evo tranny. I know that the WRX trannies are like glass, but not the Evo's.

EVO are between a STi and WRX in term of strength of the transmission.

Did you just hear of 1 person blowing theirs up? I haven't heard of any problems with the STi tranny's.

I've driven wrx's, sti's, and one evo...but never an MR. I chose the STi over the EVO becuase it was slightly less notchy/cheap feeling. The EVO sure felt more like a slot car than the STi though.

EVO's are actually a more reliable car than the STI. hate to say it, but it's true. (i worked for subaru, trust me, i know)

the STI is more refined IMO, the evo, more raw.

my money goes to the EVO.

I put over 70 hard launches on my old STi and never had issues with the drivetrain. We're talking 6k RPM and dropping the clutch. I'm really surprised the stock clutch held up for so long. WRX trannies are a different story.

I like the new Evo's and hate the new STi. What an ugly design! 40k for an Evo is quite a bit to spend though. I'd rather put that money into something cheaper and be running 10's in street trim.

it was a 2009 EVO MR. It came with an automatic. It was crazy! The thing sounded just like a stick. When decelerating, you can here the thing downshift thru its gears.....If I had 43k lying around and money to burn, I would get one.....But then again, when will that ever happen!
