Re: The ten fastest cars for $10,000

I don't know why turbo regals weren't in the list. Maybe because the many of them aren't under 10k. .

Bingo. Only beater-TR's go for less than 10k. While prices have softened just a little bit in recent years, nice ones have never been under 10k. Sure, there are "deals" out there (especially on T's), but not enough to make this list.

GM 4th gen F cars - so glad that is on the list. Even though my regal is faster than my TA , the TA is just such a blast to drive. It's hardly refined and just brutal hardcore raw fun.

The GM wbody should have been on the list. A clean Regal GS or Grand Prix GTP can be picked up for $3000, 500hp fwd are very common and can be built for next to nothing.

You can build a 500hp gtp for next to nothing??...Hmm not too sure about that one.

Wow, dealer trying to double his money on that link to the eBay Ty.

That truck was in Milwaukee, owner sold it for only $6k, too bad it didn't go to a better home.

Part of the reason for selling the 300ZX was the cost to maintain. The underhood temps get extremely high on those cars and the harness was deteriorating, particularly the connectors going into the sensors. At the time (2005), there were only 2 new harnesses available and they were going for $1,200+. The turbos were buried between the block and the shock towers and little tasks were a PITA. The other thing that discouraged me was the cost to modify. It seemed like every mod had more zeros after it than I could stomach. I did like the build quality of the car and the balance. It would have been a great drift car, you could get it sideways and drift or pull it back in line with little effort.

I have no problems working on F-bodies. Here are a few that I had over the years.

The convertible was my Dad's and the coupe on the left was mine.
