thinking about getting 92 tyclone

Red tyclone
I'm thinking about selling my 08 impala ls with 76,000 miles to get a 92 typhoon clone, but i not sure if it would be a good daily driver. I put about 16,000 - 20,000 miles a year on my car and i need something reliable, the clone has around 104,000 on it and all stock 92 parts . I get around 25-30 mpg right now so what the mpg for a stock typhoon run you guys. Your :2cents: would be appreciated

Thanks Scottyblazinlow

I get about 14 in town, up to 19 on the hwy with a mostly stock '93. This truck has also been absolutely reliable for me (knock on wood). I think I've put about 20k on it, driving it almost daily.

Truckless. For now.
Re: thinking about getting 92 tyclone

I'd be wary buying a clone, unless they can provide full documentation of how the truck came to be a clone.

With prices the way they are right now anyway, you probably aren't really saving any money buying a clone. You can get really nice trucks very cheap right now.

By a clone do you mean only the exterior or the full conversion? Either way- you are going to get a little over half the gas mileage from the Impala. The 4.3 is a really reliable motor, but isn't known for it's wonderful mileage.

Re: thinking about getting 92 tyclone

If you have never owned a syty, drive 20k miles and plan on it being your only source of transportation I would tell you that your making a mistake for several reasons.

I own 2 myself and 1 is a daily. Successfuly daily drivers are people that have owned these trucks for awhile or own multiple for the most part.

Re: thinking about getting 92 tyclone

Unless you do your own wrenching or have a big wallet I would keep the Impala for a dd, most sy's get 15-20, but I would figure on 15 and you have to put premium in so you are talking twice the cost for gas as the Impala. I dd drove my sy and it was fun but it is hard to keep from getting on it and that will get you very expensive big tickets eventually. I also agree that real ones can be had for not that much now and would go for that instead of a clone.
