If you get one let us know how it worked out. I was looking at their fiberglass front bumper for my s-10.

They are only OK ,for racing.
I never heard any of there products are any good.

Warped, needs a lot of trimming, sanding, filling ,etc, just to look OK @ best.

That pretty much sums it up right there. I ordered a 1965 Chevelle Cowl Induction hood from Unlimited and it was a disappointment. Didn't even try to make it work and ended up selling it at a high performance swap meet.

From there I looked at both VFN and Glasstek. Either one seemed like a better choice than Unlimited.

Re: Thoughts on this hood?

I bought a new VFN for my truck back in '03. I got "free" shipping since I went on a road trip with two syty buds from PA to Chicago to hang out with the Chitown syty crew. The fit is good and it is crazy light but there is a reason for that:

That's what it looked like before I got it painted. That is light showing through and there were two pin holes in it. It "flaps" pretty good at 100+ MPH too.

My painter put a flex agent in the paint to keep it from cracking and it has held up pretty good so far. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten a Goodmark instead. I miss the flatness and reflectivity of my old stock steel hood. Probably going to be putting it back on in the future...

The quality of VFN and Glasstek products are similar because they are both made by the same family. I can't remember who was first but there was a split and someone went off and started another company.

I tried the fiberglass deal too (harwood) and I hated how it flapped at the cowl around 60mph.

I went back to a steel hood. The 30lb difference doesnt matter to me ---

Re: Thoughts on this hood?

I hadn't really though of selling the hood I had since "93", but I may sell it if your are looking for a nice hood. The only reason I took it off is that I wanted both of my Tys to have the same hood. I have never seen another one like this one. It came on my Ty with the wing from the dealer. I was told that it was a ChooChoo Customs dealer "install" back in the day that dealers could get.

Some pics from over the years...

Re: Thoughts on this hood?

So which hood is it? The 2 1/4" cowl induction? Your link only brought up a page with 11ty billion hoods on it.

x2 on the goodmark steel hood, I tried a fibreglass hood years ago, it didn't fit well at all, switch to a goodmark and it fits great and looks like it is supposed to be there.

The 4" cowl glasstek hood on my current Syclone doesn't move at all during high speeds and it fit perfect.

Jegs is selling aluminum hoods now which would be pretty cool and most likely light. I hit the Super Chevy Show last week and they had steel cowl hoods 2" for 295.00 and 4" for 325.00. They don't really offer any extra hood clearance IMO because of the stock style underhood framing.

My bolt on Harwood IMO is almost as heavy as a steel hood.

I had a fiber glass hood on my blazer before and it cracked now I have a steel cowl hood made by reflexxion and I love the way it fit. also its not that heavy compare to my stock hood.
