Tick/Knock Breakdown

ok, heres my story, my sy has a tick (whats new),well its actually had it for a while, and its not the injector tick, cause i have that too and you can here the other tick over the injectors...i was just wondering if someone can give me a breakdown of different knock, like the difference between lifter/valvetrain or a rod or main bearing. cause i have put new lifters in the truck a long time ago to try and fix the problem, (but i guess its possible i didn't adjust them correctly, or they have come out since then)...and its hard for me to believe that i have had a rod knock for this long and no further damage has become of it... i guess i can describe it a little to, it does it during idle and up to about 1500rpm it stops after that, weather i just rev it from idle or under load... i think i'm gonna just pull the valve covers off today just to check, cause it has been awhile...but yea, just wondering if someone can tell me the difference

you might want to have a look also at flexplate to crank bolts and flexplate to tc bolts.

if they loosen which is comon if you didnt use locktite on them then what you describe could be either of these 2 choices.

btw easy to check and fix compared to pulling motor out.
