I'm guessing it's the white/gray from Colorado Springs? It's always a good idea to check for info on a truck here, before commiting to buy one. I'm pretty sure Mike (TYTILIDIE) has seen that truck in person and knew it was a mess.
I wonder if it's the one I'm thinking of?

These trucks are definately for those with a masochistic streak in them.
So go put some nipple clamps on & kick yourself in the nuts a couple of times & you'll know what it's like to work on them.
And welcome.

where are you in austin? north? theres guys around you that are very knowledgable. Believe me id be lost without a few of them. I can't remember where but one of the locals had their trans rebuilt at a midas or something and used many of the parts the syty tranny guru uses.

Matt (user name 420) on here has a built trans up for grabs for around $1500. Should be able to find his for sale thread.

Welcome aboard. Be sure to keep a lift open at your shop for the Ty... they seem to like them and/or jackstands

don't feel bad about the price, i gave a little more than that for mine and i have replaced all the sheetmetal that can be unbolted, and had to buy a gilbert front driveshaft right off the bat

I paid more for mine, and spent my vacation happily browsing through the local wrecking yard for stuff I figured would break and be impossible to find. Nobody else mentioned it, but pay attention to whatever issues your truck developes. Mine has a few quirks that keep coming back, but it makes me appreciate the good days even more after fixing them constantly. Hang in there, and if you get a chance to attend some kind of SyTy get together, do it! It helps a whole lot to meet everyone and share stories face to face.

way ahead of you on that one. did some werk for cottmans trans. here in austin. my prices are pretty competitive. enough for them to still make money off of the customer. anyways, i go to them for help and starting at $2000. i too can get back on the road. phukin' jerks. i don't do business w/them anymore.

I'm here in Austin as well... (Curious though as to why it's "sorry-@ss" for you?) Regardless, welcome aboard!

As others alluded, it IS a love-hate relationship that you just entered into w/ your truck. Highs beat the lows though IMO. Not much else like a boosted launch in one of these when they're running right. Lean on this board 1st & 95% of the time you'll get the help you need.

There are quite a few of us local that would be happy to meet up, check out the truck & poss. make you feel better about your purchase. ;-)

Re: to the @$$hole who sold me my first ty...

Damn, it is a good thing you have a lift to help out with any future issues. I used a local guy from Ammco (Rick) on Burnet RD. He built a couple of trannys w/ kits I got from Prime Gears. You could stop by over there & tell him Bruce referred you. He is very honest about what the tranny can hold. I wish I had more time to hang out w/ my local syty buddies but becoming a new father takes up all of my available time.

Exhaust shop in Austin? Damn! You would be my pal if I still lived in San Antonio. Welcome to the fold. Dont fret too much. If the previous owner didn't hose you, your truck would anyway, so just take it like a man. 7000 isnt too bad depending.

Its great reading all the shit talking about our own trucks lol. That is until they run again and we race someone and beat them, then its; "I love my truck." :D
