Everything :)

I was telling mrweelr the other day that I really haven't done a thing other than clean all the crap off of the hood and bed cover that seems to collect/get stored there.

The last work I did to it 2 weeks ago was to spin all the tires 180 to keep from getting a flat spot in them.

Things left to do:
Take Pontiac intake to the machine shop so it can be milled down to fit the Vortecs.
Decide on whether I want to modify stock tank for sump or cut a hole in the bed for a fuel cell (I really like my Bedrug).
And I'm going to buy one of those electric power steering pumps so I can really clean up the front of the motor. The only thing attached to the front will be the alternator. No stock brackets, no water pump, no P/S pump and no A/C.

Then start it up.

is that water neck really gonna work?

what intake setup is that? looks tits.

No, it's just there to cover the hole.

The intake I believe is a Daytona Dash aka Pontiac with an intakeelbows.com sheetmetal intake elbow.
And thanks.

Re: Took the week off...

do you have any pics of the underside of the intake elbow? (where it mates to the lower intake) I'm also curious if they use any air deflection inside that elbow.

I don't have any underside pics. There are no deflection pieces internally in this piece. I can take some if you'd like.
However....on the rare Lingenfelter TB elbow I have (hehehe) it does have a deflector inside.

if its just empty inside pics aren't necessary. i'd like to see the inside of the linginfelter if you don't mind taking a pic.

Re: Took the week off...

Rick - you planning on having that beast running soon? Would be nice to have a Northern Cali Sy/Ty meet this Summer. BTW, I received the first batch of ARP polished SS fasteners from Summit today and most of what I needed was in that big small block chevy kit. I already changed out the oil pan, water pump, and various other bolts with the ARP stuff. It looks amazing...thanks for helping with the part numbers :)

Re: Took the week off...

Since the Ty was/is having problems, I thought I'd spend some time on the Sy.

One of my goals on the Sy (besides having it run) is to remove as much as possible from the front of the motor to cleanup the looks & make it easier to work on.
So far I've removed the AC & the waterpump, I have a remote mount Meziere to handle waterpumping duties along with a radiator that tucks into the core support.
I've found a hiding place for the coil, map & fuel pump relay. And I'm switching over to hydroboost brakes.
These things will provide plenty of working room.

After seeing the remote electric PS pump on EBAY I thought I'd be able to ditch the stock alt/PS bracket as well and just run a mount for the alt.

So since the pump is gone this limits my mounting choices as most of the brackets use the pump as a base for the brackets.
It looks like I only have one choice for a bracket:

This looks like it will clear a full size CKEITH valve cover (without the notch cut in the valve cover). Billet Specialties lists this bracket in a long or short waterpump configuration whereas the March bracket only list it for a short waterpump. Since the waterpump length is irrelevant, I wonder if I could switch to short pullies & add more space.

Thoughts, input?

Re: Took the week off...

I looked at this some more last night and decided to stick with the stock alt/PS bracket for now.
I've got bigger tasks to complete than to dwell on what bracket to use.

Dunno.
It's got a couple of welds to hold it in place with filler to seal it.

Re: Took the week off...

More free time means sh*t needs to get done.
Last weekend I pulled the tank out so it can have a sump installed.
Today I installed a polished Meziere pump (something I have to polish, ugh) & swapped out my 200A Powermaster alternator for a chrome 140A.
I also found out my hood hits the top of the intake. Don't know why I never noticed it before, but something needs to change by about an 1".

Re: Took the week off...

Tested the tank today for leaks after I welded the sump & applied the sealer. No leaks so in it goes.

Crappy welding job. Probably should have practiced more before tackling this. No leaks though.

1/16" rubber mat for strap insulation.

And it's in. Now I can figure out where to mount the monster Weldon pump.

I also yanked all of the parking brake cabling out. I can't wait to get the coil-overs installed to really clean up the underside.

Re: Took the week off...

Installed Ground Force mono-leafs today.
Used 3/8" setback plates. After looking at the pinion angle I decided I'd cannabalize the wedge from the stock springs.

I also thought I'd try out some 3/4" heater hose on the Cal-Trac's for the bolt that hits the leaf springs. It should make it a little bit quieter.

With the mono-leafs, setback plates & pinion wedges the back end dropped 3/4". That sets the cladding height & 28" which looks like I have about an 1" travel in the rear. Once I get all of the parts out of the bed, maybe I'll gain some wheel travel back. I don't want to be riding on the bump stops.

Re: Took the week off...

Installed longer wheel studs on the passenger rear side today. With the axle in. ;)
With the 3/8" spacers I have on the rear, even with the extended tip lug nuts, I wasn't comfortable with the thread engagement.
So I bought some longer ARP studs. And true to form, filed & cut them too fit.
