Weld what?
Weld brackets on to mount additional stuff.
I wouldn't want to do a lot of drilling on it in order to mount radiator, front mount IC, IC pump, alky pump, inner fenders, etc.
I'd rather have a bracket to drill into.

One problem I had with mine, is every bolt loosened up. I think most of its due to the vibration of the electric fans and its not as solid as the stock support. I am now either using loctite or bolts with lock washers.

TytilIdie, having something to ground is useful as the front core support has a few grounds on it (battery, frame, lights & horn connection).

One thing is the support does tie togehter the front end, it has body mount to the frame, the hood mount, hoods bumpers, fender mounts, as well as mount for the front grill. If any those off, youir truck isn't going to go together corrrectly.

My chris keith core support does not have anything I could bolt to the frame mounts, like the stock core support did... Am I missing something?
