Thanks. The cardboard will work. I was thinking plexiglass. I can get some for free, and use painters take to put it on. Some for the tailgate isn't a bad idea also.
I found some axle straps at Harbor Freight too

I think there are many straps sold every where made in china no matter where you buy them, Harbor Freight is not an exclusive store for them. Buyer Beware is all I have to say.

uhaul can only go all the way up,yes they are very tongue heavy,and you can not put them backwards as there will not be enough tongue weight.

2500 will be fine put it all the way up and 75 mph all good,have done ny to charlotte 4 times with same setup

my 1500 towed it good , 60-70 the whole way (350 miles one way). your 2500 should be fine. my only problem was draggin ass pulling in driveways. granted tongue weight wasnt ideal but it was never scary to drive.
