Just bought one

Just bought one

GM part # 24209295 Note that the filter you need is for the 4L60 not the 4L60E. This is NOT the part # that you need 24208576 for a filter.

Just figured this out yesterday.

Get a TCI pan. Uses regular filters that are very common at parts stores and has drain plug.

Also the Derale one (#14104). Cooling tubes, drain plug and it uses the stock type filter...

Not to mention beefy aluminum construction with cooling fins to dissipate heat. And a magnetic pick up on the drain plug to trap metal particles.

Jesse, I'm sure that you are better in tranny stuff than me, but AFAIK the temp sender in the pan can show a much lower reading than the tranny actualy sees. Most of the gurus recommend to put it onto the outside line before the cooler. Just my $0.02.

You are correct. The most accurate temp location whould be inside the pump thus putting the sending unit inline with the output of the trans. I chose to do it in the pan because the temp between the pan and inline is not too much different. About 8*-10* on the average. Since I know that I know about what the pump is doing. Also with the pan temp I feel I get a better idea of what the whole trans is doing temp wise not just the pump. Good point though. Later.
