Trans slippin in first

Use the force to fix it
This has never happened before but in the last three days when iI drive around town and the trans warms up it starts to slip from a standstill. I have not been driving it hard, except from a 40mph roll with a cbr600. If I drain all the fluid and replace it with new will it last for a little bit longer? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey Waller, what about using some quantity of Type F fluid to make the clutches / fluid "stickier"?

Also need to make sure that its full of fluid (I expect that it is) because that seems to make them shift funny too (sadly from personal 700R4 experience).

ya type F might help you out some and at this point it might be worth it for you to try it. type F just has more friction modifiers that help the clutches bite into the steels making for firmer shifts.

Is that the composition of Trick shift?

yes trick shift is type F.

the inner sheath of the tv cable should be pushed all the way to the drivers side in your case.

I dont know what a ATR kit includes but I'm guessing it's not much and I'm sure it's mostly stock stuff. ie stay away.

sounds from park to REV is normal to some extent. it's called driveline clunk if it's what I think your hearing.

Push in on the metal tab, then push the cone shape piece (in green circle) all the to the drivers side as far as it will go, then rotate the linkage all the way to WOT slowly. The teeth on the back will click as you rotate.

Re: Trans slippin in first

just wanted to through this in. when you give the tv cable a few tuggs have the car running. i'm not sure and sure would advise listening to john more than me, but i do think having the car running makes a difference.

hey john... do you think it could be his torque converter? when i broke mine once i got a clanking from the tran and it turned out i broke the converter. i'm bettin it's clutches. let me know if i'm close

good luck

I have had some gunk hang up the TV valve, after a trans R&R. That plastic connector in the red circle just snaps on, so pop that off with the engine running and while depressing on the metal tab in purple circle, you can give it a few 5-10 quick pulls on the cable. Then turn the engine off and reset the cable again.
