I am trying to find someone to build me a trans for my V8 AWD Blazer project (see sig). I have found this guy on ebay building transmissions. I dont really know alot about automatics. Are the parts he using good? If I do have him build my trans, is there anything he needs to put in that will take the extra torture of the AWD compared to a normal 2wd or 4x4 trans?

Not trying to take anything away from Mr Waller as he has built a couple transmissions :) But since you are kinda in Chicago you could talk to Roadmaster. Are you going with a 700R4 or a TH350/400?

Kramer lives only a couple miles away from me. He's lookin to keep his OD so he's gonna stick with the 700. I told him about Roadmaster also.

Thanks for the help guys. When I get to having it built I will definately consider both of these options

I just need to get it back on 4 wheels for right now.. I still need the Belltech drop kit, and all new front suspension parts.. Anyone sell some kind of aftermarket control arms? or is it best to sand blast my stockers and paint them?

I was looking at PST for the front rebuild kit has anyone used their parts? Do they work well?

I have a complete PST polygraphite kit in my front end. Made a world of difference compared to the old stock crap. No more nose diving when braking, less body roll, ect ect. Im sure its very similar to replacing everything with new "stock" style stuff, I just think the PST poly parts will last longer than stock rubber.

I also recommend KYB Monomax shocks also.

my brother told me he has them on his '73 vette and they squeak, but he has older ones, have they improved them?

ALL poly squeeks, thats a characteristic of polyurethane. You do lubricate them with special grease when installing them, but past that, they will squeek a little. I have the Energy Suspension kit in my El Camino, and that squeeks a lot more than my Ty does, if thats any help to ya.

Odds are you would only hear the squeeks when going over a speedbump or maybe a steep driveway ramp or something at low speed. Otherwise you wont notice it.

Biggest cause of squeeks with the polyurethane is that people tighten everything up with everything at full travel or they don't use that special grease(sticky to say the least).
Your supposed to install everything, lower the truck (or load the suspension) and THEN torque everything down.
If you tighten everything with the suspension at full travel and then lower it down, the bushings will constantly be binding and squeeking as the poly will actually be twisted. There is nothing in the instructions about this. I actually found this info in the Helms manual in some obscure spot. It is a PITA to tighten the bolts with a Ty on the ground though :-?
My truck doesn't squeek at all and I drive it often. My 2 cents.

charlie is a great guy. i put one of his 700r4's in my v8 s10 earier this year. i got the street/strip (5 element planetary, 13 vane pump, hardened sunshell, red clutches). it worked very well. i am also just about to have him rebuild my tranny in my truck in the next week or so. he can save you alot of money and still have a good tranny.
