My wife and I will be moving from Oklahoma back to Wyoming soon. I have a couple of different options for getting the Sy back there - one is OK, one I'm unsure about.
Option #1 - unsure
We have an '02 Olds Bravada with the 4.2l in line 6 - has a 5300lb tow rating. I could rent a car trailer from Uhaul and try to haul the Sy back with the Olds.... I'm not sure if the wimpy Olds is up to that. It's a pretty steady grade from 800ft elevation here, to about 5200 ft at Denver, then back down about a 1000 ft... but with some good grades in between. Of course this is the hottest time of the year. Olds has 80k on it, good tires, etc.
Option #2 - probably OK
Or, I could rent a UHaul truck and use it to pull the trailer with the Sy on it. Load my tools, etc. in the Uhaul.
I plan on getting a car cover for the Sy, putting it on, then wrapping the entire truck tightly with pallet wrap (visquene) - should keep the stone chips off of it, plus keep the car cover from flapping.....
Any other suggestions other than hiring someone with an enclosed trailer??
