Sounds like you need to either learn how to tune or find someone that can tune a chip for you.

Hood is in Georgia, Waller in Carolina area, few other might tune via net if you have laptop, etc.

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

Whats your set up. And what is your definition of bogging? I had a similar problem and I found out that what was really happening was I was geting spark blowout. Seems kinda lame but I re gapped to a lower gapped and that was it. I couldnt believe it.

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

have you run datamaster on it?
i was having the same problem when i first got my truck.
it turned out i was getting a bunch of knock retard and i couldnt make more than 8 psi.
you might want to take memcal off chip and just run off stock memcal.
but you really should be doing all of this while your monitoring eveything with some kind of software.

Yep....

Spark blow out... TyTillDie is right... My wife's truck will do the exact same thing with a gap bigger than .32

I put a new wires on (cap and rotor being already replaced) and stuck a new set of plugs in at .35. Went to drive home and nothing....nada over 6-8psi.. started sputtering...I was like WTF!!!! I know all I did was stick plugs in and new wires. Idles great.. no boost great but anything in WOT Poof... no sparkie...

Drove back to the shop... Took all the plugs out.. gaped them at .30 .. turned right back out of the driveway and 16psi .. no problems... I still can't believe there's that much wrong with the combustion chamber design or the spark is that weak it won't stay on fire.

Don't have any trouble with Turbo Buick's but..... This is definatly a different animal.

Knock that gap down and it'll fly...

yes, i had sparkblow out on my Syclone, gapped them to .30 and everything went well.

Brian is pretty busy with life. I doubt you really want him specifically anyway since peeps here seem to be steering you in the right direction. You could either have fueling or ignition related issues, troubleshooting these areas is likely to get your truck back to health. Id begin with the basics and verify both your fueling and ignition is up to par...

Balloon ... Try tightening up all the hose clamps and what not on the induction/intake.

Never trust anybody to work on your truck unless

1) They specifically know about Syclones and Typhoons
2) They own a Syclone or Typhoon

Drive to Lakeland... I'll do what I can to help.

If Jim (SBNova) is available and you ask him politely, im sure he'd be willing to help and put the truck on datamaster for you. He lives in Lakeland as well.

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

Sorry you couldn't reach me, but it looks like the guys here have helped you out.

Find some local owners, listen to the long timers here - they'll steer you right most of the time. Squeal sounds like a leak somewhere on the pressurized side of the turbo. Since you just had someone else work on it, might check anything they loosened up/removed to get at plugs - or what they thought they had to remove to get at the plugs ;)

oh, and fix your caps-lock button ( I had to say it )

Don't forget the Turbo Buicks have the highly desirable DIS (Distributorless Ignition System).. we have an old school HEI distributor. My 90 Turbo Grand Prix has the 3.1L with DIS and lemme tell ya what, the difference is night and day. I never touch the plugs and wires and I don't have to replace them until the gap is worn so wide that it appears to be 60 thousandths!! (I didn't actually measure, it was just a huge gap worn from the miles.) Solid 0.0 knock at WOT all the time, every time. The ignition system is just 1000 times better and easier to tune.

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

Tooky.... Your right about that for sure.. It'd be nice to switch over to DIS on our trucks.. Maby I'll look at switching it over. Go to single coil at each cyl mouted on the valve cover like the new chevy trucks... That'd be nice! And a clean setup... Humm

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

DIS has already been done. Need coils, crank trigger, FAST edist and either a modified distributor or a new-style one. Search the forum... Nolan has done it and I believe Jim Sloan as well...

Re: Trying To Get A Hold Of Brian Green????

I remember hearing a bunch of buzz about this back in the day, and then nothing. Did it ever pan out? Did it work as great as everyone hoped? How come nobody talks about it anymore or seems to be building trucks with this desirable feature? It sounds promising, if not a little expensive.

I think the $1K+ plus price tag and some DIY setup turns off alot of people
