Turbo nuts

Where does one get the nuts that bolt the turbo to the exhaust manifold? I tried ACE but they were all too big on the outside.

Re: Turbo nuts

I think the problem he is having is off the shelf 10mm nuts are larger in size OD, don't clear the turbo housing.

I suspect you might have to go to dealer if they even list that part, or a specility bolt company.

Re: Turbo nuts

if its the problem i think your having. When you start the nuts on the studs lift the turbo off the header an inch or so, so that only a little bit of the the stud comes through. the nuts should spin when they're flat against the exhaust housing flange.

Nope, Jeff hit it right on the nose. The O.D. on all the nuts in stores is too big. I lost one of the nuts but I am not going to put one new nut on with three old ones. Just me I guess.

Re: Turbo nuts

What I did since the stock studs are 303 stainless was purchase matching stainless steel nuts which came in a larger diameter than the factory non-stainless steel nuts, and machined them down on the mill. Very time consuming to cut all six flats on each nut, but worth it. Now no more worries about siezed nuts due to different metals. (yes I do use anti-sieze, but it still happens)

So they charged you for each single nut? If I remember tomorrow, I'll get on our part guys pc so I can get the P/N for the actual nut, wether there are any available, and if there are what other dealerships or warehouses have them.

Re: Turbo nuts

the nuts are not stainless. The ones i measures off mine were not 1.25 pitch either.

They were M10 X 1.50, steel nuts. The GM part # gave me an identical match to the original nuts on the manifold.
