Turbo wheel mods.

I'm contemplating rebuilding my turbo this winter while the truck is tucked away in the garage. A friend of mine works for World Wide Bearing and might be able to have bearings made up for me. I was wondering if anyone has info. regarding a stock turbo build up. Perhaps changing the turbine wheel.. something with diff. style fins. Maybe I'm way off here, but won't this increase the performance of the turbo. If this is an option (changing the wheel), what other mods would be required when doing this build up? Oh, while I have the turbo disassembled, I'm going to have it coated, perhaps HPC...

the ONLY othr turbine wheel for our mitsu housing is TDO6H wheel which is meant for the 14cm houising....what I have seen is a 5deg clip on the stock turbine wheel this seems to help spoolup and control a little.

If you really want to get crazy...Extrude Hone or Norwood Aeromotive can polish the wheels for you to a super smooth surface finish. A ferrari racecar gained about 25hp/25lb ft from this, and full boost a few hundred RPM sooner. Probably wouldn't be much on a syty, but the spool time may be decreased a bit. It's cheap tho - only $250 the last time I checked.

Just FYI...

Do you mean they polish the wheels to a chrome like finish? If so i had no idea that would make a difference, that's amazing!

I may be little off topic but I have turbo questions.
Some one please correct me if I am wrong;
The numbers like 8cm² through 14cm² meaning turbine housing size – correct?
If it does what is advantage of 14cm² over 8cm²?
If there is an advantage where can I get 14cm² one (for example)?
On compressor side there has being mentioned TD06H-20G – what is “20G” mean?
Will I need different wheel for 14cm²?

Thanks

spool time. Larger housing's will make more power and mph but will spool slower. Too small of a housing will choke your truck though.

the 14cm housing does require the "H" turbine wheel. it's larger than stock and is designed for the larger housing. but with a stock or near stock truck. you will need a larger stall converter to go with it.

Sorry, I should've mentioned: I got 9/11 2800 stall installed recently.

What is a “H” wheel, where can I get wheel and housing, how much?

just fyi. i put a 20g-14cm mitsu turbo in my truck a week ago. with the stock tc and an external mini gate i can spool the turbo no problem. its slower than stock, but when it spools it makes a hell of alot more power.
