Two step

Typhoon #2131

SAVE THE TA-TAS
I have a two step set up on my race car used for the launch. Will one of these work with the Typhoon? A friend told me cutting cylinders with a turbo probably wouldn't be a good idea. So I thought I would post this and ask the experts.

Re: Two step

Do you have a manual transmission?
Otherwise what is the point?
Mash the brake and gas to build boost.

Re: Two step

I use a two step on both of mine. Many turbo cars use them to help spool at the line.

So it works pretty good? Still gets boost? On my race car I set the two step at rpm for the converter and then at the starting line I can put it to the floor. Do you do the same thing?

Re: Two step

I run mine a couple hundred rpms below the stal rpm, but different setups will like different two step settings. The unspent fuel in the down cylinders helps the turbo to spool as it exits through the exhaust.

Re: Two step

I use one as well. I don't mash the throttle though. Just haven't learned to deal with the racket. I bring the throttle up to where the 2 step begins to work and go from there. Seems to work good for me.

Hang on a second. Assuming you're looking at MSD, you realize that you also need the MSD rev control (6AL) or the new 6AL-2 which has it built in. What I'm afraid of is you've been looking at just the 2step control which, by itself, won't work.

Yeah I have a extra 6al box I took off the race car and found out that wasn't my problem after I bought another one so I was going to use that.

2 step works GREAT, love mine and would not be without it for drag racing.

Those that say its not worth it or no point obviously have never used one.

Msd Digital 6 comes with one already if your looking for a good all-in-one msd box .

Yeah I have the two step and line lock on the race car and it works great. I just wasn't sure it would work on a turbo motor.

Re: Two step

Heres a video of me launching off the two step, no lag and no complaints, could launch at whatever rpm i chose. I'm hoping next season to rip the front wheels off the ground. I could barely get one up.
Master power t70 turbo and two step= no lag.

very cool! That's how my race car sounds except it don't whistle and it cuts out at a faster rate when sitting on line but I launch it at 3600rpm that's probably why. I'm going to put one on the Typhoon as soon as I get it out of the dyno shop next week.

Thanks for sharing....
