Recently picked up my ty #0302 and its all stock minus the borla cat back. Ran comp test saturday and all was well, had an average of 146.2 on drivers bank and 146 on passenger. Put some new Ur6 plugs in, and the msd cap and 8.5mm wires will be here thursday. Aldl cable is also on the way so when it comes in i will be able to monitor and make some changes. thats all for now but figured id start up a little build thread as progress goes on.

Glad everything is what I said it was. Pretty darn good compression. How did the plugs, cap and rotor look? Pics. Did it smooth out the driveability?

For starters if I'm reading the label on the porcelain correctly those are the wrong plugs. Those are for NA 4.3s.

You need AC Delco CR42TS plugs those are CR43TS.

Or you can use NGK UR5 plugs

Re: ty #0302 thread

yeah, i was in a rush getting them out and those are the first two on the passenger side. when putting back in i used a wobbler joint to make it back in easily.
so in your opinion they look fine?

Interesting. (Considering where this truck "came from", it doesn't surprise me that it has the wrong plugs in it). While I was looking at the porcelains my thought was "those plugs look "hot" not lean". Guess I was right.

Excuse me but what exactly does that mean?

Re: ty #0302 thread

I never touched the plugs on this truck. I use ngk plugs and msd ignition components when I do tune ups. The truck also had Auto Zone wires which I told Redneck b4 he purchased it that they were probably part of the misfire/hiccup problem, and I would never use shit wires on anything.

My dad took this truck to his mechanic to get the tune up about 1.5 yeas ago. I know how to work on these trucks. i might not be as good as some guys on here that have been doing it for many years but I picked up my first wrench to work on a Sy 4 years ago and have now built what I and some others believe to be the sickest Sy ever. I never had anyone show me anything I just picked it up and did it.

The guy that did the tune-up was Jimmy at cutting edge automotive in ft walton beach, fl. if anyone wants to call and ask him why.

Not defensive towards you Jeff. It's more about what Quadra had to say. I apologize to you Jeff

Re: ty #0302 thread

simple mistakes are made all the time. if the guy doesnt know syty he certainly wont know what plug is best for them it also had 1 plug that wasnt even the same as the rest:rotf: but it has all new 8.5mm msd wires and cap on it now.

I'll give credit where credit is due, but let's not get too carried away.

Re: ty #0302 thread

thanks Dave, not getting in the middle of the massive shit stir going on here. but the fact of the matter is, the cheap o wires were broken down and the cap had so much oxidation im surprised it even ran:eek:. its a project, i understand that. thats why im not upset with the seller for telling me that "it needs plugs and wires they have been replaced a while back but with autoparts housebrand". i was just posting my progress that had been made. still loving the truck, and best of all the odd looks you get when you stop at redlights
