Ty 4.3 vs vortec 4.3

So getting the parts together to FINALLY put my motor together for my Ty. The block is out of a 2001 astro, heads are done up l-35s, the rotating assembly has been balanced.

The part I have questions about is gaskets and camshafts. It is a balance shaft motor so do used a cam for a balance shaft engine even though I am deleting the balance shaft. Also which head gaskets and intake gaskets do I get? Gaskets for 2001 4.3 or for l-35 engine?

I would just use the balance shaft. You need to use a balance shaft camshaft. For gaskets you would want to use the same headgaskets and intake gaskets that you would use on a SyTy.

I just did up a 98 4.3 block w/ Vortec heads. I posted pic's on a thread. But I'm using the filet crank/rods from a 91 Sy....and for intake, means I'm going OBDII for better tuning capabilities I dropped a Mercruiser 4.3 intake on it w/ 6 NIM403 injectors, and just picked up a Walbro 400lph pump to feed the beast.

The were 96 up blocks would need the mods I did (search my name for my Vortec swap). The 95 and earlier have a bunch of running changes to them, mostly the timing cover and oil pan mounting. See the holy grail of 4.3 thread about the changes. Those style blocks might actually be easier but it might take some figuring out.

So it is true you can use another 4.3 motor or just the block? The reason I'm asking is because I may need a rebuild and a shop is telling me the Sy engine is an even fire crank and a regular 4.3 is an odd fire. This absolutely will not work so they say.
