need some serious help with my ty. if anyone in or around the austin area knows of a good shop please let me know. i believe it's electrical. possible sensor(s) or computer. even if it's outside of austin i don't really care i will find a way to get it there.

tired of seeing it sit in the driveway covered in bird poop. just trying to do what i can to keep from selling it.

no dm. cel always turns on but does not set a code. even tried driving it with my scanner plugged in but no avail. it was turning on but had a crappy idle. changed plugs (always ngk-r 28 gap) and let it idle and it was smooth for about 5 minutes. then, it got rough and shut off. it will not start anymore due to no spark. tested the ignition module at 2 different az stores and it passed. (had them do multiple tests to heat it up) perhaps ignition coil or distributor (pick-up coil)?

also, possible bad tune and that's why I want to take it somewhere to have someone with experience with these trucks have a look at it.

just remembered when it was running just before it shut off that it was backfiring out the turbo inlet. does that sound right?

I have a customer's truck doing the same thing, I have narrowed it down to the distributer. Just need to verify it.

I have the msd pro billet and have suspected it for years. thought of trying the stocker like some of the other guys here have suggested. love to hear how it goes.

Supposedly they're made in the same place as the MSD units... but sold as "white box" and for a fraction of the price.

WOW thats a deal. Has anyone used one of these to verify? We carry an upgrade to stock distributors, but our price is $100. So if this is everything it says it is, its a steal.

I realize supposedly they are made at the same place as the msd units but does that make them actuall msd distributors without the msd badge? the reason i ask is because i'm trying to stay away from msd.

Go with the cardone from rockauto, 100 bucks and includes everything. I know of one that running spark for 27psi

so no known shops familiar with syclones or typhoons around Austin and surrounding areas? I called one in leander or cedar park (rpt) but they only do newer gm's. still trying

I've installed 4 so far (including one in my personal truck). I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. :tup:
