Ty vs. SRT-8 Jeep; emails with salesman.

So I was on craigslist and ran across a posting for a brand new SRT-8 jeep that was pictured sitting in a local dealership. I figure it was a salesman trying to get some attention and make some comission. However, his first statement said something along the lines of "fastest suv ever made," which I know isn't true. First of all, the fastest would I guess be the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (168 mph, I think). The quickest is another story, but I still thought I'd have a little fun with him. Don't get me wrong, I love the SRT-8 Jeep, its tits, I just thought I'd have a little fun... (read from the bottom up)

Him: seems like you have a lot of time to waste.. Sears point wed night drags. see you there!

Me: You're on. Have you ever heard of a Typhoon? And if I come, will you fooor suuure prove it to me? I wouldn't want to waste my time with a bullshitter.

Him: Bring whatever suv you're driving and I'll prove it to you!

Me: You should not advertise this car as the worlds fastest suv. It is not. Please do some research before making a claim like that. Thank you.



Hehe, I better get my truck running a little better incase he really may want to play, probably not gonna happen.

Considering i watched a Trail Blazer SS rip off 12.8 qtr miles times, stock with 20 inch wheels and on opening day of the track Id be careful writing checks with your mouth your ass cant cash

Haha, I'm sure this guys is full of it just as much as I am. I don't know many car dealers that would let a sales guy take a brand new limited edition car out to the track. I would like to be in the 12's this season though. Haven't been able to make it out to the track this season yet. Having trouble making enough boost right now. I'm thinking about a turbo/downpipe/wastegate kit to go along with the rest of my mods, but I don't really want to get into torque converter issues yet.

well i think it's running better than stock, just not as well as it could. not sayin im gonna go pull a 12.8 or faster, something faster than mid 13's should be reasonable.

also, not to be intentionally argumentitive, but i have a hard time beliving a completely stock trailblaser ss would run a 12.8, no matter how good the conditions. they're rated just under 14 seconds. pulling a second off the book time, doubtful if you ask me. my buddy's dad with a 06 corvette with the same motor is still hasn't been able to break into the 12's.

Sorry, but that is physically impossible. We got our first TB/SS back in Dec. and I immediately took it out for some fun! In the rain! Well, it was FAST, but with all that weight (~4500 lbs.) 395hp just doesn't cut it. My dead stock Ty was definitely MUCH quicker AND faster. It's maybe a low 14 sec. ride at BEST; with tuning, yeah maybe high 12's, but even the pass. car LS2's are mid 13 sec. cars at best stock. It would've had to be a 2WD as well. If it was AWD that adds even MORE weight. Stock?!?? No. If he was claiming stock, he was pullin' your pud.

Went back to my former job and got to drive the SRT8 Jeep back in Feb. MUCH faster than the SS, natch. But like all other Grand Cherokee's, I'm just really uncomfortable in them. As small as the Typhoons are inside, the GC felt that small or smaller!

I had a customer buy our very first Hemi GC from me last year. It's been back I can't count how many times for everything from HVAC probs to having to replace the tranny. He's a local retired ole' fart that was a BIG hot rodder back in his day; showed me pics of '65 Falcon w/a 427 side oiler, 70 Hemi Challenger, '68 Hemi Charger, on and on. He's going to trade it for a AWD TB/SS! He's also ordering a S/C at the same time. When his SS comes in it immediately goes on the hauler for ______ (Insert secret location here!) :flash:

When At nearly $50K, I could go by a Ty AND a Sy and still have money left over for mods!! No thanks.

was the trailblazer ss spraying or something? 12.8 is just not possible all stock.

o ya...and for the original thread starter........ lame... who cares if a modified typhoon can beat a stock SRT8??? I would bet a $2k Mustang could beat both if it had the right mods...but who cares....

I read in a mag somewhere that yes the srt-8 is faster then the TB. I dont think any of them was in the 12's. This site says mid 13's. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_srt8.htm

Haha, it'll probably never happen. If the day comes though, I'd be sure to have a video camera ready. It'd just be kinda cool to see the two SUV's, old and new, both awd, go head to head. Maybe one uh these days.

See the problem is going to be this. If you do beat him, he's going to ask whats done to the truck. Then you will tell him whats in your sig. And he's going to say; "Your not stock, no wonder you beat me." Something to that affect.

The race I wanna see would be between the SRT-10 and the SRT-8.
